Depends on the relationship y'all already have (are you a kind caregiver? A cruel one? Both?), but I imagine a small treat would be appreciated: a toy or snack, especially something that reflects something meaningful for y'all. It's worth it to give some serious thought to how you're going to spend the beginning of your time together, but accept that it might not go exactly according to plan and be ready to roll with that.

Be prepared for big emotions. Also: -many- people find themselves a little nervous or scared when they first meet someone important in person. If that's you, that's okay! Give it time, and you'll find your groove.
