we've read a lot of bad memories from megumi's childhood, but what would be his happiest memory? i just wanted to see baby gumi happy 🥲

OH MY GOD, THIS QUESTION IS SO CUTE? I'M TEARING UP, I'M NOT KIDDING.

It's something so small that I thought about including somewhere once, but I truly just didn't have the space to put it anywhere: when Megumi, Tsumiki, and Maki were still hanging out, going to the park and spending their afternoons together, there was one afternoon that they found a bird being tormented by a cat.

Megumi stepped in, and without much thought to himself or what to REALLY do with it, he took it back to his aunt's place, clutched between soft, small palms as carefully as he could. The bird didn't struggle- birds are generally too stunned to react in those kinds of situations.

He ignored Tsumiki and Maki's criticism about picking up a wild animal. He ignored his aunt's shrieking, and he went straight to Gojo, who just so happened to be by.

And Gojo didn't necessarily know what to do, but it was a moment that he realized Megumi trusted him to do the right thing and helped. So after extensive googling, they learned how to best approach the traumatized little creature Megumi was holding: check it for wounds, then put it in a dark safe enclosed area to let it calm down.

Megumi helped look over the bird while Gojo stretched out its wings, checked its feet, checked its eyes and tail feathers. Other than being shaken up by the cat and the kid, the bird seemed okay.

So Megumi and Gojo let it sit in a warm, dark place. Gojo let Megumi know every 15 minutes to open the little shoebox they had poked holes in to see if the bird wanted to come out.

A half hour later, they were able to watch it fly off, and Megumi's heart felt as light as its feathers. 🥹

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ASKING THIS.
