rudo and siri's immediate families are connected somehow (close? related?), and this is how they became friends so early on. rudo's upbringing was extremely strict and i have a feeling siri's was similar, they just went in opposite directions ("fitting the mold set for her" vs smashing it and rebelling). so like siri was definitely rudo's only friend at least and she was probably an awkward kid (cute). however with time and growing up i think they'd start developing feelings for each other and, tbh, trying things out with each other. i like to think their first kiss was with each other when they were idk preteen age ish (sirius pretends that it never happened, rudo treasures the memory)

i think what started the rift was rudo entering tracen (being slightly older), honestly. sirius is stuck behind while rudo is making new friends and experiences, and when she finally gets there and catches up to her, she's no longer the "luna" she knew. because yeah there's the difference of their principles and that's big, but i also think it's partially just an excuse for sirius because she feels almost betrayed? like their childhood meant so little to rudo. stuff like that. also the inferiority complex inherent to rudo winning literally every race but one (she's probably the family favorite too) and sirius trying to forge her own identity separate from her, despite them sharing the symboli name

anyway their sexual tension is insane because they have so much pent up stuff that was never resolved. all these complicated messy emotions but an attraction + attachment neither can deny (though sirius tries). i feel like a lot of things would be solved if they just fucked already. rudosiri sex brings world peace
