When thinking about crossover ships, what's the thing that usually makes you feel like two characters would be a good match? Similar goals, circumstances, personality traits?

Usually parallel narratives and circumstances in that sense. It's usually that their personality traits may not be the same or a match, it's the fact that they can come from similar stories or upbringing or conflict, to arrive at a disagreement.
