as an artist, how did you start drawing? how long did it take to get where you are now? want to start but can't go to official art classes or anything becuz that is so stupidly expensive and I am poor lmao. anyways, any tips?

SORRY THIS TOOK ME SO LONG TO ANSWER i started drawing since i was quite young, and it all started because of the first video game i've ever played: spyro (my dragon-lover awakening...)

learning to draw was a subconscious experience for me; my passion for my interests always singlehandedly drove me to just. draw. but what had a big contribution to my development, and you've probably heard this a bunch from others as well, was looking at experienced artists and how they drew things (anatomy, clothes, etc.). i think we all learn a lot by copying/imitating (ofc for private benefit), which is what i did when looking at other people's art styles.

i also highly, HIGHLY recommend using references. not sure how to draw specific muscles? furniture? animals? google (or even pinterest). and the great thing is that there are sooo many useful and free resources made by fellow artists who want to help each other.

you can totally learn to draw without expensive professional assistance!
