first, i'm reading it because of yuki and mafuyu. before diving into the story itself, i discovered their relationship: unspoken mutual feelings and childhood friends who evolved into middle school sweethearts. they are each other’s first in everything, and the depiction of their bond is rendered with such exquisite detail, it illustrates the purity and tenderness of their love during their middle school years. however, as i began bingeing the manga (having only watched the movie before), i must say... uenoyama’s role as mafuyu’s boyfriend, as a composer who continues yuki’s songs, and uenoyama’s unwavering commitment to mafuyu, immerses me in a poignant longing—a yearning that i crave to experience. like, what do you mean my boyfriend kind of sees his ex in me? what do you mean i should continue the song his ex and first love wrote for my boyfriend? the depth of these emotions overwhelms me in a way i didn’t think possible. i cherish yuki and uenoyama deeply. i adore them with Mafuyu. i treasure them immensely.
