writing can be difficult and intimidating at times, but i promise you there is no other feeling that comes close to how fulfilled you'll be when you're able to finish a fic! so this is me telling you not to feel scared about wanting to write and share your works! especially in a community like seokgyu that's always so ready to read a brand new fic lmao

as for your concern, mischaracterization is something that tends to happen either from a lack of source material or regard of it. in most cases what i think we tend to label as mischaracterization is the lack of plausibility when a character will say/do/think/feel something in the story cause we (the readers) personality believe they wouldn't. so when you're writing about a character it's always important to keep at least a few core factors about their personality or character trait as you're writing them.

you can pretty much write whatever kind of au you want, whether it's far from the canon setting or just a slight diversion, what's really important is making sure that the way your characters react to the world you put them in is believable. say for example, if you were to write seokgyu in a zombie apocalypse au, one key factor in their personality that you always need to remember is that these two are the biggest scaredy cats in the group. so in a au set where the literal undead is going to eat your brains at any given moment, their fear of scary things is something you need to keep in mind and make visible throughout the story, or if you want to take that personality away and keep it hidden, give your readers a reason to believe why they aren't scared or why they've overcome that fear. a good way to resolve that is their protective nature and their resilience. so make them have a goal in mind or someone to protect that would keep their minds focused on it rather than their fears.

basically what i'm trying to say is that you can pretty make them do all the things you want them to do in order for the plot to progress in your story, so long as it's in a way the character is able to react. obviously we don't really know the inner mechanisms of gyky's minds but we have plenty of content to use as basis, so we're not writing our stories blindly lmao

it's atrocious how much unfinished wip i have in my docs rn anon, but if i had to pick the one i want to finish the most it would probably be my last installment for the greek myth series 😔

additional context: i actually started writing that wip as soon as i got into gyky.. so technically this fic was my first ever gyky work.. but i kept putting it off (out of me being too much of a perfectionist and wanting this fic to be my best work yet that when my writing kept lacking i got too intimidated to work on it) and i eventually started working on other wips until i sort of forgot it existed (whoops) and when i finally got around to working on it again i was still not completely satisfied with my writing that i had to redo it (and this cycle continued for a long time until my hiatus) and currently the wips haunts me to this day

as for gyky dynamics, i think my favs atm are:

1.) he fell first (mg) but he fell harder (dk) but not in the sense that dk's love for mg is greater than mg's love for him.. rather mg fell first so his love for dk is something that he's learned to live with, a resigned fact that he will love dk for the rest of his life bc his feelings for his isn't going away anytime soon nor does he want it to. as for dk falling harder, his love for mg is a sudden realization like a straight drop from the top of the world and it's intensity and impact is enough to literally throw dk off his axis once he finally figures out that he's in love with mg.

2.) dk who's fully capable of doing things on his own still needing mg's help bc he loves being pampered and loved -- it's such a good flavor and the fact that mg does this willingly is absolutely devastating (they are so in love, ur honor)

3.) i will never get tired of this dynamic bc it's literally the back bone of gykyism and i've said this countless of times already but my all time fav is: love (mg) and trust (dk) -- listen, there's a lot of layer to this dynamic in particular, but basically i use this term in reference to the quote 'love cannot live when there is no trust' and it's something i associate to the core of what makes gyky so compelling, mg represents love in all its intensity: his acts of service, his dedication, his devotion, all of it he gives so willingly and unflinchingly towards dk. where as dk represents trust in the sense that he does not take mg's acts of love and devotion lightly. he puts his whole belief in him, always so ready to offer mg his support and praise bc he wholeheartedly believes in mg. his unwavering loyalty in return to the love mg offers him is why they complete each other imho!

i feel like i've rambled a lot with this ask so let me stop here, thanks for the ask anon! yapping abt gyky is probably my fav activity lmao

oh he'd be so needy and shy about being so needy whenever mg takes his time with him.. too sensitive and turned on that it doesn't take much for gyu to make him so wet... even the slightest graze of skin makes him mewl. but even when he's already made a mess, he'd still be too embarrassed to tell mg what he wants, hoping mg would just give it too him, but this time mg's feeling a lil bit mean. he wants to hear dk say it.

so he stop touching him, stops kissing him, the action so abrupt that it sends dk tipping over a bit from the sudden loss of contact, with his tongue out, a trail of saliva following.

he looks utterly debauched, his face warm and his lips swollen, with tear tracks on his cheek. his expression is a mixture of confusion and need.

he obviously wants mg to keep going, but mg's only looking at him in wait.

"mg.." dk would coax, hoping his call would be enough to get the younger alpha to kiss him again.

but mg only tilts his head at him before saying, "i'll continue if you tell me exactly what you want"

dk's face looks horrified at his request before immediately getting flustered, his gaze avoiding mg's as he began to open his mouth before closing it again.

"you already know what i want." he says in the smallest voice mg's ever heard him use, and it's unfair how easily the older omega's able to make him want to forget his earlier plan and just do as he's told.

but mg fights off the urge to do so, now isn't the time to bend to the older omega's whims.

"i want to hear it from you." he orders, making sure to tilt dk's chin so that his gaze is back to mg.

"i want you to tell me exactly how you want me to make you come." he adds slowly, not missing the way dk gulped at his command.

he could feel him shake beneath him and he takes his time trailing his fingers over his chest, mapping the omega's skin all the way down to his his inner thigh until he reached the one spot that has dk moaning.

but he only lets his fingers graze the sensitive nub, stopping short from touching it before he takes his hands back to admire the wet sheen coating his digit.

"come on, hyung." mg teases, just bc he knows how much dk gets off at being called that by him. "don't you want your dongsaeng to make you feel good?"

the face dk makes at him is enough to drive mg insane. the clear desperation and need in the pretty omega's expression has mg wishing he did this sooner.

he can't wait to see how far he can push his beloved hyung till he finally gives in and does exactly what he wants.
