🍹: Does your OC have any funny anecdotes told about them?

ohh okay i actually have one that cliffe would tell ppl abt kyj AND anissa and its abt their first time meeting in person to talk (cliffe went with them as a witness and purposefully booked a fancy restaurant a. because theyd pay for the food and b. so they were less likely to start physically throwing hands) but he says that that day he truly learned what being stuck between a rock and a hard place felt like because these two were sooo stubborn it was like they were having two different convos at the same time. and afterwards anissa was saying 'i think that went pretty well :)' meanwhile cliffe was rapid texting kyj trying to convince him not to block his number because kyj was even angrier than before

🍕: How does your OC spend a lazy day?

kyj hates 'lazy days' but on the rare chance he does stop to rest he would spend it designing or working on a passion project recently hes into woodblock prints and he usually has at least one project he can do to decompress at any time

anissa would not get out of bed if she could help it maybe in late afternoon to make food but she would not go outside she might do a quick workout in her living room if shes feeling more energetic but otherwise she is gonna rot the day away on her couch watching documentaries of random stuff

🎂: Does your OC have any contradictory interests or traits to the first impression people have of them? How do they surprise people?

ppl probably wouldnt guess that kyj gets easily scared by horror stories and movies because in real life situations he reacts quick and has nerves of steel (but i think it freaks him out because of the inevitability of the ending of those stories)

also i dont think ppl expect this but anissa is interested in history and law (she reads a lot of nonfiction and she likes watching history documentaries) which surprises ppl because she seems so unserious and reckless normally but she even used to study law

i think his role as a guard of a mausoleum makes him rlly interesting and gives him a different perspectives from other 'outcast' types

idk i think at the time i was rlly into reading adventure stories and that sort of awe and some envy of classic hero tales translated into this guy looking for any reason to go on a quest/get away from his current life and see something new

probably yves counts as his nemesis theyre both scientists with very different opinions and hes been so negatively effected by the thing that shes hellbent on studying, the thing that made him his current self with these strange fears and cosmic illnesses and she doesnt seem to care that her research and her curiosity is hurting ppl she just wants answers to her questions and as a scientist as well he thinks shes irresponsible and full of bs for it

✨ How did you come up with the OC’s name?

his full first name is actually clifford but when thinking abt it i knew it had to be a name with cliff in it bc thats the most important part. i think his characters struggle and personality reflects someone whose standing at the edge of a cliff trapped between making the decision to leap into the unknown (chasing the truth but w the risk of losing his life) or not. and then clippa kinda makes the decision for him. i think of the 'if ur friend jumped off a cliff would u follow?' and ik its often said as a joke but cliffes answer would be yes bc if its someone he rlly cares enough to regard as a friend hes not gonna let them make a dangerous decision by themselves

she doesnt cry easily when shes rlly sad or angry she doesnt however seeing something that makes her rlly happy is what would make her cry like reuniting with someone she hasnt seen in a long time or even just eating a REALLY good meal would make her tear up

id say its the massive amounts of eye contact lol she would stare unblinking into ur soul even when ur just trying to tell her abt ur weekend

oooh!! anise hyssop (her name-sake), forget-me-nots (stares off into the distance….), ferns for some flavor, white chrysanthemums (for grieving, devoted love and its connections to funerary practices), and lily-of-the-valleys which im choosing bc its relevant to aniz, its a flower that grew in the meadow aniz and viya would secretly meet up at (but the fact that its toxic kinda shows their relationship lol) theyre also anizs favorite flowers

✂️ what is the "last straw" for them to cut someone out of their life? how easily do they let go of people?

its actually hard for her to let go of ppl but the thing thats the last straw is breaking her trust in a major way/forcing her to do something against her will when they know she absolutely would not do it otherwise

ppl assume shes really stoic and cold and a loner but really shes just quiet and kinda awkward and blunt and nerdy

i love this question!! i think aniz wouldnt give up the world for someone she loves despite that decision probably also destroying her because as someone so close to death she has an interesting love for the world of the living and she has a strong sense of righteousness but giving up someone she loves for the world would kill her quite literally i dont think she would live thru the ordeal (because while she would give up the ones she loves for the world, she would give up her own life for the ones she loves)

🌌 what was the inspiration behind your oc? what was the first thing you decided about them?

the inspiration for aniz in the beginning was all the classic paladin-type heroes but if she were a paladin for a deity of death. then the first thing i decided abt her was her weapon of choice!! a halberd she forged and enchanted herself!!

noooo sadly im so bad at assigning faceclaims i was actually thinking heather kemesky at some point bc i like her side profile and eyebrows but im not set on the idea

What is an alternative life path your OC might have gone down? How different would their life be if they'd made those decisions?

tbh if he had gone down another path aka if he had chosen not to go back to the city after he “recovered” or if he chose to run away from his sister clippa when he ran into her he would be dead lol and he acts like he already is sometimes but theres something that keeps pulling him forward (not just anything but clippa for the most part, without her he wouldve long since given up on finding the truth behind what happened to him and just curled up in a hole somewhere) ….. however a small part of him wishes he did run away at that time and go back to the village where he was first found and treated bc then he could just live out his final years in peace and anonymity (he lives like a wandering spirit but that doesnt mean he doesnt crave a place to settle down in front of a warm fire every now and then)

What is your favorite thing about your OC?

his gender lol um but actually though my fav thing abt him is his wayward personality he definitely ends up making close bonds with others (like his sister clippa and then kyj who he views as his soulmate) but he retains that wandering and independent nature and doesnt feel the need to be physically close to those he cares abt all the time but he never forgets those attachments either (him and kyj are hardly ever actually in the same location after all but they work perfectly in a ldr bc of the amount of understanding and trust between them)

What memory would your OC rather just forget?

if were going by memories before the story starts, i think its probably the piercing look on his mothers face when he dropped her off to stay at one of her cousins houses. he hates the lingering feeling of guilt for leaving her behind and he hates not knowing the meaning behind something

if were going by moments in the story, id say theres one heart dropping moment where cliffe does something particularly dangerous that when kyj thinks abt what couldve happened later he still breaks out in a cold sweat bc there wouldve been no way he couldve prevented it if cliffe hadnt been able to save himself

5 How far is your OC willing to go to get what they want?

hes very ambitious and even ruthless when he sets his mind on something so i think unless it goes against his personal code he would do just about anything to get what he wants (and yet saying that he does sometimes forsake his values for his plans which he always has deep regret for later. exhibit a: leaving his mother with cousins they hardly know for the sake of other family members he doesnt even care about that much)

What’s one way your OC has changed since you first came up with them?

the major thing thats changed is that i see him smiling more often than when i first started designing him just like small smiles when originally he was a lot more cold hearted. i changed his looks around a lot too tbh but the things that ive now settled on for his look is that he has short brown hair that he ties in a half ponytail or low ponytail and that he lasers his facial hair off bc the feeling of it annoys him so much

How does your OC want to be seen by other characters?

cliffe definitely puts out a very specific image of himself that is mostly uncaring/go with the flow, lazy and even somewhat untrustworthy bc i think he wants to keep people at a distance he doesnt want to get attached to people or too deeply but unfortunately once someone becomes genuinely important to him he cant quite hide his fiercely loyal nature he can just make it seem less intense than it truly is. he also prefers to let ppl think he knows less than he does bc he finds it easier to work when ppl are putting less faith in him or following him

Is your OC more cold and detached or up close and personal?

despite seeming uncaring he is definitely not cold and detached lol hes very up close and personal, he can be detached but its more straight up avoidance and his being uncaring is more easygoing or chill than cold

Does your OC have any illnesses or disorders? How do they handle it?

he has sooo many akdjskajbdjd a major part of his storyline is his mysterious otherworldly illness he got after an accident where the main symptom is that it blinded him in such a way where its like theres always a giant light being shown in his eyes that causes migraines, dizziness, and seeing things that others cant, another symptom of it is minor breathing problems. otherwise the accident that gave him this illness (and abilities) also had some lasting trauma that he handles in his go-to fashion when hes genuinely emotional: avoidance! and lets just say it doesnt always work out well for him

What character alignment would you consider your OC to be?

hmmm id probably place him in the chaotic good category (vs kyj who is strongly lawful neutral and follows his own personal code above all)
