Ok, I’m finally taking a look at this video, and yes, I agree with a lot of it. There are a couple of spots I probably would’ve engaged with using a little more nuance/detail or specifics but for the most part, yeah this is pretty spot on.

Part 1: father/daughter narrative – agree wholeheartedly, no notes tbh.

Part 2: n/f shippers – Since there aren’t specific examples given, it’s a bit hard for me to judge what they consider infantilization within the n/f fandom e.g. Is it that artist who very clearly has a daddy/daughter kink? Is it people who draw her crying too much? Is it her being plowed in nsfw fanart? Without knowing exactly what the person is talking about, it’s hard for me to fully agree, as I do think at least the English language side of n/f fandom doesn’t really seem to depict her as an incapable child but that doesn’t mean they don’t exist at all. I’m just not sure prominent enough to really… single out n/f fandom for?

Part 3: obsessive fans – I’ll preface this by saying that I saw a lot of n/f fans got harassed to hell and back--and most n/f fans are first and foremost Furina fans. The harassment continues to this day, so the increasingly defensive response I’ve seen has not been wholly surprising. That said, I do agree that it’s become quite difficult to talk about her character in nuanced ways. The range of acceptable flaws you’re allowed to talk about is very limited. On the rare occasion someone is willing to concede that she has a flaw, they’ll usually spend an equal amount of time telling you that Neuvillette is just as bad or worse. Nothing is ever just her fault/responsibility and b/c the player has the benefit of 20/20 hindsight + additional knowledge on the situation, other characters’ perspectives are rarely considered (the lack of sympathy from some fans re: Poisson is one example).

Part 4: antis – again agree wholeheartedly, no notes! lol
