been thinking of luffy extending his habit of collecting and showing off beetles to coins as well ever since he found out abt law's habit of collecting commemorative coins (most of the coins he shows off are normal and law rips into him for it with equal exasperation and love, maybe a little more exasperation, but the rare times he does show off a commemorative one luffy adores how law cannot hide his excitement for jack all)
PLEASEEE THIS IS SO CUTE??? Luffy at first doesn't really see the appeal because money is just chunks of metal. and at least for most money you can buy food, but Law's interested in that kind of money that people usually don't accept anymore. but he does see appeal in the way Law's eyes shine when he sees an old, valuable coin,,, how he'll start talking about history completely unprompted and explain which Blue the coin comes from, from which year it is, etc.
Luffy probably starts asking Nami and Robin to help him find the "Torao coins", so he can get Law to talk more about them instead of getting upset at Luffy bringing him just normal money 😭
and in exchange,,, Law will at least try to draw some "really cool" beetles he's seen. maybe he has some old insects reference books from North Blue, that have beetles Luffy's never seen before. Luffy really wants to see them in person some day!!
