I’m wondering… what is your opinion of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet (including the DLC)?
I liked them from what I played. Leigh's the one who is more of the Pokemon fan than I am, though. She even offered to get my Sachiko team set up since I'm always busy at work or with art just so I could at least enjoy the story...which I think it's a good story! I like the branching paths. Yes, they lead to the same end chapters, per se, but it's still really fascinating
Okay...What is this sub you're having?
Okay, what’s your thoughts on Schoolhouse Rock?
Hi! I love your Azu works! I was wondering if you ever plan to write another fic soon?
Platonic until proven gay? 😏
...Well, if that's what you want to think, I guess? Platonic relationships are valid, too. I try not to "ship" real people together, and I don't want to put words in the mouths of people I don't personally know. Only if they say, "oh hey, we're in a relationship" outright, then I think of that as permission to view it that way. But hey...let's enjoy some strong friendships! (And hope for a S3 in general lol)
Favorite ToYomi moment?
Say something poetic
Uh....Put on a spotlight, huh...(legit takes a moment to think)
There are times I wonder if this is a curse;
Then I see your smile.
It isn't malicious, nor mischievous.
This is the smile you save for me.
And I'm reminded that, perhaps,
this is really a blessing in disguise.
(Guess who, folks. Guess!)
Is Sachiko a kid of another Azu ship?
Nope, she's always been ...99% OC. I almost forgot that Leigh used the name (as well has her big bro, Hayato's) for npc characters in a Pokemon 4th gen RP forum-thing she used to participate in, before we became friends. But her parents are completely original folks who never met the Azu cast when they were younger or any sort of connection like that. Even in this old draft of a story, Sachiko still met Miko in grade school.
Are tomo and Yomi still involved with Miko?
Okay, how did Sachiko and Miko meet?
In grade school. They borrow a little bit of the Tomo and Yomi backstory as an homage of sorts. They've been in the same classes together UNTIL high school, though. That's the major difference. Sachiko was the one to approach Miko because she was different. She couldn't explain how or why I mean she was just a kid, but she wanted to make friends. And Miko, a super shy and troubled girl, decided to give it a shot. [there are lore reasons behind Sachiko's "she's different" reasoning, but I can't say, even in this era of the reboot-making hiatus!]
You've told us how you got into Azumanga, but how did you get into Tsukutabe?
Ah, that story isn't as fun, but it's good! It was a matter of seeing a post here and there, not paying attention to it at first because I really wasn't looking for YURI-yuri (just happily into my non-canon yuri stuff, like Precure, at the time), but then it popped up again around Christmas....I still had some unused gift card funds from family and Leigh already bought her portion's worth, so I was like, "Huh. Why not? It's got ladies. It's about food. I like food (and ladies)!" And if I didn't like it, I could return them, or at least donate them (lots of little libraries here). WHOO, was I in for a treat!
I do have a link to the first-ever Tsukutabe-related post I ever made. It's nothing fancy, but you could tell I was already super excited and had already finished reading them. (Actually, the main reason this question took a bit to answer was because I was looking for it lol)
Speaking of Episode 19 from that AD manga vs anime ask...What's your hc of what happened over at Yomi's that night?
I don't actually have one set headcanon! Episode 19 has so many open-ended parts to whatever you want to focus on that it can make for an easy creative exercise specific to the Azu fandom! I've explored it as a chapter in Flutter, I've dived into the subject for a comic once...and most, if not all, of us have accepted Episode 19's "Tomo comes into Yomi's room via her window" tidbit as canon for both iterations by now.
What are your thoughts on Chiyo?
She....exists! Not in a bad way, though? Like, she's literally my age if she was real, so in my "future/post-canon" musings, I tend to picture her with similar vibes to me and my fellow generation-mates. But I was in high school when I read the story the first time, so I literally wasn't interested in the "little kid" character because I could not relate to having some smart little kid being in the same grade as me (same goes for any shows or movies that have a prodigy btw. Just not a trope I enjoy). I got my hands on Vol 2 of the manga first because of Tomo and Yomi. Chiyo, despite being on the cover, only got a "Oh hey! I've seen her on a DVD cover before!" reaction from me
What’s your preferred version of Azumanga, the manga or the anime?
I read the manga first, so I gravitate toward it more. It has more tales, it has more interactions, and the 10th anniversary additions/edits made it even better than before (notice how Kimura isn't even present in the supplementary lessons? He's kinda stuck in the original run, but at least he starts being less of a presence by the final year [poor Kaorin, though] and he's just GONE in all three of the supplementary lessons. GOOD). Animated stuff just gets seen easier over here, and AMV Hell certainly helped Azu get attention in the West, but with a memetic outlook thanks to some of its entries in those compilations...which I don't actually enjoy tbh. Anything that twists Osaka's personality is a thumbs down, in my book. But I digress. If it weren't for the anime, I wouldn't have mental voices for the cast that fit so well, and I guess Episode 19 in general....But that's all it's got for me. I have the Yen Press Omnibus hanging out in my Special Bookshelf that's on my desk - stuff I want to pick up and read or reference immediately~
Do you like Tomo or Yomi more?
WHY DO YOU MAKE ME CHOOSE, ANON?! ....I guess if I HAD to pick just one........................................Yomi. I like getting into her head more often than Tomo's. It's fun, it's angsty, she's so confused, she's so used to conforming to the status quo (almost by force, it feels like), that it's just fun busting her out of that cage and see what happens.
