need me a gyubgeon au where geon, the infamous high school baseball catcher, captain, & cleanup falling in love with rival school’s newly debuted pitcher gyub. gyub was a super famous pitcher in middle school before he got an injury on his shoulder & he has to be on a hiatus for 2 years before going back to the league. now he came back in a second-rate school but geon would never forget their first match where he got strike out by gyub’s infamous fastballs. gyub doesn’t have the accuracy & speed anymore and geon got hits after hits (even a homerun) out of him, but geon is mesmerized by gyub’s unwavering spirit in the game and found out that he’s in love all over again with gyub…
gyub would cry alone after the game & geon found him in the dugout way past the time to go home, and he comforted gyub.
this kind of reminds me of lovely runner (nothing to do with lovely runner actually, except the injury but let me bc i’ve been obsessed). geon remembering after all this years and still holding certain admiration for him, however he still wants to win and plays the best he has ever played. gyub is an emotional wreck bc this is the first game he has ever lost… and geon went back to him bc he wanted to congratulate him in the great game (and also see the older man from up close after admiring from afar for so long). he doesn’t expect to find him crying and all he can do is hug him and tell him that everything will be fine (i can’t deal with gyub crying, just the idea makes me sad).
will be obsessed with the idea of gyubgeon baseball players for a long time. them smiling at each other after they win, the playful banter abt the game, getting into better teams together…
