99% of discussions on yaoi/fujoshi on here makes me wanna quiz everyone on if they know where the words Yurizoku and Barazoku come from & if they know what the Yaoi Ronso refers to.
Cuz it's sad that gays and lesbians in 70s/80s/90s Japan did sm work & activism trying to carve out a cultural space and establish publications for themselves & each other,
just for the cultural boom of thr 2000s to weebheffect & make yaoi/fujoshi the "default" "gay" media/lingo/"community" in ppls minds
It's lowkey erasure 😔
I have never thought of it like that. I wouldn’t necessarily call it erasure but definitely more of an evolution or division of the source/original works from today’s works.
