any tips for someone who wants to start drawing?
yes, here are some things i learned:
1. if you have never drawn before, don't worry about specifics like lineart, shadows etc. for now, just try to sketch as much as possible to develop muscle memory for the form
2. inspect other people's art and take note of the things you like and the way they approach a certain thing difficult to draw (for example lighting, overall composition, or whatever you find difficult)
3. fast drawing =/= necessarily superior, take your time
4. if you can afford the time, draw a lot and redraw old art often
5. if you are looking for anime-ish style, i recommend watching naoki saito's youtube channel, he helped me a lot with the advice
6. anatomy knowledge helps for sure, but you don't Have to start with it unless you want to draw realistically...just draw what you like and practice the overal feeling and when the time comes you can become serious about anatomy
7. look at tutorials and try them out just for fun, there are good ones on ibispaint youtube channel or pixiv or even deviantart
8. if you have a tendency for it, try not to compare yourself to other people who draw because every style is so different there is no point in it, every pro artist took years to practice and also started from the same spot, so all of this just takes time and effort and adjusting your mindset to actively look for improvement (even passively, by looking at other art and thinking about it)
9. ok i could go into details for every single part of a drawing so I'll stop here
