Ben is justified in how he acted towards Sophie tho because Sophie was indeed a servant before he saved her and he was just being cautious about being with her like come on now I get in modern times things are different but during regency times how he acted was normal and made absolute sense and without how he acted we wouldn’t have gotten any story I wish bton fandom stop acting as if he committed crimes against her and comparing his actions to Philip who is a grapest & a negligent father who talked down and verbal abused Eloise Ben never did that he was honest with Sophie from the start and he was being sensible and you know what even if bton was modern times asking someone to be his mistress and blackmailing her ain’t all bad coz the intet wasn’t bad he was being realistic
I hope they don’t change Ben book and Benophie storyline because it’s great and most romantic
If yall have a problem then go complain about Eloise book
I literally rated AOFAG 5 stars and I stand by that rating because of how much I adored it. phillip IS the worst man, but it doesn't mean the rest of them men are A+. the power imbalance between benedict and sophie, and benedict asking sophie to be his mistress is fine. I'd even let the blackmail go because while it wasn't his entire reason, part of benedict's reason for sending sophie to work for violet was knowing she was safe in a secure position. the issues in AOFAG that I think the show can change while still being book accurate is just have benedict and sophie genuinely run into each other and spend time together rather than benedict seek her out and harass her because he won't take no for an answer to the mistress question. that's literally it.
