hi again idk if this is intrusive or not but does lonnie have any gender affirming stuff done medically? i think i remember you drawing him with top surgery scars before but i always wonder like hrm how HELEPF

HI!!

Yes he does! His transition stuff is actually a huge theme in the plot.

I give him top surgery scars usually, but I'm a little iffy on it occasionally. (I might make it more so a breast reduction than full on top surgery (#preservethemanboob) because it would be a lot easier for him to find a surgeon willing to agree to that.)

For lore on that — he saved up for a couple of years (Likely a mixture of college money/money from his job) and went out of state to get it done and that's actually part of the reason he's stuck in his state/town. The travel costs mixed with the surgery costs left him barely scraping by. (So even though Laura would happily let Lonnie live with her neither of them have the money to make that happen.)

As far as hormones go he's on testosterone… less than legally. ⚠️‼️ Warning for drugs and abusive relationships from here on out.

You know how he smokes weed?

Yeah…

He has a dealer that gets him both that and the hormones. It's an old friend from high school (People which he has mostly cut off) and their relationship is quite a “begrudging” one to say the least. The friend (Walter) is a real piece of work and sort of a parallel of some of Robert's worst traits. (Ex. He forced Lonnie to do coke before to “show that he won't snitch”.)

You could sort of argue that Lonnie sort of suffers from BWS and craves similar negative traits. (And who knows, maybe I will delve into that) But the difference is that Robert isn't as static as Walter and is willing to improve while Walter just gets… worse

I don't put all this in his story just to make him suffer, (as much as I joke about that kind of thing) forced drug use is far too common.

I also think that Robert's interest in pharmaceutical things may possibly lead him to being able to make a sort of Home-Brewed Testosterone which cuts out the need for the guy almost completely. (Though Robert isn't aware he exists until Walter cuts Lonnie off, again, lore.)

This is an element of his story I've been dying to talk about for awhile, since it affects… so much

Also your question didn't ask this, but an important point to mention is that he is still legally recognized as female. Whenever he goes to the DMV he fills with dread as he gets more and more masculine.

He avoids doctors as much and considers himself quite lucky as he hasn't gotten some sort of major injury as an adult, he also feels lucky that his job pays people in a less than formal way because they aren't clued in to his transness in the slightest.

I hope that helps clear things up LOL. I was hesitant on making him trans at first, but then realized I would have a very interesting story to tell if I made him trans… and I'm so glad I did 🏳️‍⚧️
