I love the idea that Henry is Alex’s baby but we mustn’t forget that Alex is Henry’s darling. Like Henry will take such a good care of Alex when he comes home from work/studying exhausted. He’ll just slip in Alex’s lap and play with his hair and whisper that he’s his good boy, that he’s so good and Henry is so proud of him, that he doesn’t have to be flawless in order to be successful… Henry will cook delicious lunches for him and bake the most delicious goodies and ALWAYS write a lil note for him "I hope your day is as beautiful as your eyes in the sunlight, ps. I put a little more cinnamon in these cookies for you. Love you, my darling.” (Love myself some housewife Henry)
Yeah… and on these days Henry rides Alex senseless, his thighs flexing 😫

im not kidding when i say i could spend hours talking about this. i think its something people might not really pay attention bc when you put alex and henry side by side its obvious that people will see henry's emotional neglect first bc its right in your face and it affected him his entire life while alex grew up in a (mostly) healthy environment where he was loved by his family, but there's something so painfully delicious about alex being this force of nature, smart and handsome and charismatic and able to charm everyone but still feeling lonely everywhere he goes. he can put a facade and people wont even notice the cracks bc he'll make sure they dont and they'll love him for it in the same way they wont because he's spent his entire life feeling like hes too much so, in his head, he'll never be able to be truly himself because it will scare people away. henry gives him a different type of love and acceptance he never had before, he can finally slow down with him, he can be vulnerable, he can admit how much of a romantic at heart he is, how he still needs help from time to time and how hard it is to feel like youre carrying the entire world on your shoulders. henry gives alex exactly what he needs in the same way alex gives henry what he needs and thats why they're absolutely perfect for each other

maybe this is slightly controversial but i feel like fics where arthur lives don’t necessarily work because henry’s grief and his darkness is such a important part of who he is it’s like alex minus abandonment issues
i get where you're coming from, henry is not just his grief but its a very fundamental part of him and it explains the way he thinks and sees the world and his actions in general, i think those aus are more of a luxury for us to see henry happy with his dad than a replacement for canon, like a treat we all deserve
