Wow.. guys, another question, this is mostly about a term I saw moving around here. What does Yumejoshi mean or what is it exactly? I’ve been seeing terms like “yumes” and I’m genuinely curious about this, if someone could explain, I’ll love you forever. :3
Yumejoshi (夢女子 lit. dreaming girls) . A term which describes “dreaming” about being in certain series / media, and having typically romantic relationships with a certain character, or characters. Originating from, “dream novels” which was fan-fiction where you could change the heroine’s name to yours & experience being alongside your favourite characters. Think something like Y/N’s in fanfic. The male, or masc-aligned term is ’Yumedanshi’' (lit. dream boy), if memory serves me correctly.
This sort of thing is also called "Self-shipping", which is a term you’re probably more familiar with. But, I don’t think the term(s) Yumejoshi/Yumedanshi solely encompass self-shipping.
I’m not entirely informed on this topic, so I invite anyone more well-versed than I to chime in. If anyone who identifies with these terms follows me, feel free to comment.
yumejoshi = female selfshipper
yumedanshi = male selfshipper
yumejin = gender-neutral / nb selfshipper
yume = subject of selfshipping (ex: my yume is hawks)
yumejoshi (meaning is dream girl) is a girl who ships herself or self ocs with fictional characters as well (I think..) yumes are the characters that we self ship meow, yumedanshi (me) is the male aligned version and yumejin is the neutral term!! and people say they don't share bc you would see them as your partner and someone else saying thet yume someone that you view romantically would like set people off yk? And when people say they share that means its ok if someone yumes the same character they do!! Like I yume sabo but I don't mind sharing him but I don't share like Sanji or Law. I hope this makes sense..
