Hi. I hope you don't take this the wrong way but I read your hyvnh0 a/b/o fic and sorry but that's not how either of them acts. Especially for mh, I found it really hard to believe he'd be like this toward anyone except jsng (maybe it would've worked better as a m!nsvng fic) and frankly, when he does really intense stuff, it's way more likely to scare hj rather than for hj to like it - that's canon too btw. No hate, just my opinion, but maybe that's sth to take into account before your next fic

So, I’ve been sitting on this ask for a couple of days because I am just at a complete loss as to how I should respond —and even more at a loss as to what exactly it is you’re trying to achieve here, as well as the fact that you evidently don’t know how to act.
I’m gonna answer this ask in conjunction with the other one you sent: “Same anon as before and yeah just want to say that your writing style and stuff was fine and I liked it, it was just......the characterization and all that, you know? I really do think your next fic can be better because I actually really enjoyed your prose”.
First of all: What.
Second of all: What the actual fuck.
Alright, seriously.
I think you have fundamentally misunderstood the reason why I —or most fic writers— do this. I wrote this fic because I wanted to, and I liked it. And then I shared it with the rest of the world because I thought some other people would like it too. I did not write it to be the Most Accurate, I did not write it to analyze real people I don’t actually know at all save for the personas that they themselves show the world, and I definitely didn’t write it with the goal of making them act the way a random person whose existence I wasn’t even aware of until they parked themselves in my inbox thinks they would act in mind. I’m doing this because I like hyvnh0, I like THIS dynamic for hyvnh0, I like writing, and I want to potentially bring other like-minded people similar joy about them.
Also —and yes, I know you were talking about characterization and the overarching hyvnh0 dynamic, not the au itself, but still— the irony of you complaining about them not acting in accordance to real life, even if we again put aside the inherent multifacetedness of rpf stuff, is hilarious to me when we’re talking about a fic in which lmh has a dick that literally pops a knot. Real-life accuracy and compliance is not the name of the game here.
I want to address this too: “Especially for mh, I found it really hard to believe he'd be like this toward anyone except jsng (maybe it would've worked better as a m!nsvng fic)”. First of all, I really don’t think you, and people like you who go around other people’s inboxes pushing another ship than the one depicted, either weakly or strongly, realize that what you’re doing is counter-productive at best. When a m!nsvnger comes to me to imply that my hyvnh0 would’ve worked better as a m!nsvng (which, no, it wouldn’t have), it doesn’t make me any more likely to write m!nsvng fic. In fact, it makes me annoyed at m!nsvngers and turns me off the ship itself. Something something, you catch more flies with honey than vinegar. Second of all, that’s your interpretation of lmh’s behavior. Mine is, evidently, very different.
(And as a sidenote: the m!nsvng tag on ao3 has almost 6 times the amount of works as the hyvnh0 tag. I’m sure someone out there, among the nearly 13k m!nsvng works, has written the m!nsvng mating run fic of your dreams, so go find it and leave me and my ship alone —and if no one has written it yet, maybe you should take it upon yourself to do so, since you feel so strongly about it.)
“and frankly, when he does really intense stuff, it's way more likely to scare hj rather than for hj to like it - that's canon too btw” I’m not going to delve any deeper into ‘that’s canon btw’ and what canon means in the context of rps/rpf (spoiler alert: very few things), because this answer would get untenably long, but who told you that fic is about what’s more canon? It’s not. Canon doesn’t matter in fanfic, especially not when it comes to something as nebulous as rps/rpf ‘canon’. But if you want to actually play this game with me, fine. Here’s some canon hyvnh0 stuff. "'Lee know hyung scolds you a lot doesn't he?' Of course. It's because I tease him a lot." hj is not afraid of mh. He teases mh to get a reaction, then plays his own already exaggerated ~fear~ up for laughs and dramatic effect. If he was scared of him, he wouldn’t purposefully rile him up. He wouldn’t go to him looking for a reaction. I could write a whole dissertation on their dynamic, but for the sake of brevity, I won’t.
Throughout reading your message, I keep coming back to this question: what exactly are you trying to accomplish here? Because if you think I misunderstand a ship’s dynamics badly enough to come to my retrospring and essentially try to ‘make me see the light’ as to the Correct Interpretation (which of course happens to be yours and yours only), why would you trust my wrong, misguided brain to get mh/hj/jsng/whoever’s character and whichever ship accurately enough to write them the way you think they should be written?
My next fic will be exactly as ‘bad’ as this one. Because I will keep writing about hyvnh0, and specifically hyvnh0 with this dynamic in mind. Because that’s how I interpret them, and that’s how I like them. I suggest you don’t even look at it, much less read it —and really, you should have stopped reading my mating run fic once it became clear to you that you didn’t vibe with my characterization, instead of coming to me with this utter nonsense. Your inability to click on the back button is no fault of mine.
All in all, you come into my house and demand I write my fic not the way I thought of it and like it but the way you want? No. Write your own fic if you think my transgression of apparently mischaracterizing hyvnh0 is that serious.
Finally, despite the fact that I care about your opinion of my writing even less than the gum I stepped on almost a week ago, I thought I’d reply to this ask for two reasons.
The first: I’d like to nip this sort of nonsensical behavior in the bud —no matter how worthless your opinion is, it is, ultimately, annoying and entitled as well, and I would like everyone who follows me to know that this is unacceptable behavior that I will not entertain. I don’t want weird anons to feel free to spout their bullshit in my inbox just cause they feel like it.
The second, which is the only thing I got actually, seriously angry about: This kind of thing kills new writers’ confidence. I’m mature enough, as well as confident enough in my own writing for me to react to your message with baffled incredulity as to how someone could really have the nerve to do this, instead of crushing insecurity and self-doubt. But other people are not. Other people are new to writing fic, especially rpf, or they’re just getting back to it, or they may have been writing for a long time but still not feel very self-assured about their own abilities, or they may not even be writing in their own language (like me!). I know you didn’t criticize things like grammar, syntax, typos, etc. but this kind of UNSOLICITED, unasked for criticism —because yes, it is criticism, regardless of you telling me to not take it the wrong way or potentially viewing it as ‘helpful advice’— doesn’t have a place in a fic writer’s inbox unless explicitly asked for. You are not my friend. You are not my beta. You evidently didn’t go about reading my fic with the mindset of ‘this is something the author shared with me, and not wrote for me’. Why would you think I would care the slightest bit about your opinion about it?
I hope you both never send anyone a message like this to anyone ever again and quickly mature enough to look back at this indescribable nonsense and cringe at your own idiotic entitlement.
