By "by the end of the week" do you mean Sat/Sun or that it could be any day between Tuesday and the weekend? For contributor results
Anytime between Tuesday through Sunday! A post will be made once all emails have been sent. Thank you for your support!
Hello - I am not sure if your mod team is aware, but one of your guests is a known harasser and has bullied multiple people out of Discord servers. As you can imagine, it makes me incredibly uncomfortable to apply and support your zine knowing this. Is there any address I could send an email, privately - be aware that I am really scared about this blowing out of proportions, so I hope to trust the mod team with private info. Thank you.
Hi, Thank you for your patience while we have been discussing amongst our team. This message is the first we're hearing of this and would like an opportunity to discuss this concern with you further, and better inform ourselves on the situation. If you could please send us an email at [email protected] so that we may discuss the matter directly. We will act accordingly once we have more information. Thank you very much for sharing your concerns, we hope to hear back from you!
Hey! Sorry for the super specific question, but if as of right now I've only played the first trilogy, but by the time decisions go out I think I'll have played other games, is there some way to indicate that on my application?
Hey! On the application you can choose all the games you are comfortable with depicting, if you are unsure whether or not you will actually play a game before acceptance you can write in the comments box (one of the last questions before the submit button) games you plan to play soon.
We will also most likely ask accepted contributors again which games they are willing to depict during onboarding, so don't worry about it too much during applications!
i'm interested in applying as a traditional artist. however, i am unable to scan some of the pieces i would want to use in the portfolio (gave them away as gifts and only have photographs). would it be alright to use these in the portfolio? i would still be able to actually scan the piece i make for the zine, if chosen
So long as some of your pieces in your portfolio are scanned or professionally photographed then that will be fine. Just make sure to indicate this in the 'comments' question that's right before submission!
Hi! For the portfolio piece it says you need to have written something AA related. Is there a minimum word count for that? Would drabbles be okay?
Hello! You may include 100-500 word drabbles in your portfolio so long as at least one of your samples is a fic between 1.5k-2.5k words.
All the information pertaining to writing applications can be found in our info doc under application guidelines found at this link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1XP3XbjvV85OjXtBAtQQ0HxlQglUv2b8oXeIg3WBaeCo/edit#heading=h.7laaza6ahhl3
Hey! I saw that the zine itself is going to be SFW, but is it okay to have NSFW samples in our applications, or would you like us to keep our applications SFW as well?
Hello! Please keep your samples SFW in your portfolio as well. Non-sexual nudity will be allowed during applications but explicit sexual and fetish portfolios will not.
Would the contributors for the tgaa side zine be picked separately from the mainline ones or does a contributor have also contribute to the main zine?
Great question!
Page artists and writers will have the opportunity apply solely as a Great Ace Attorney mini zine contributor, with no contribution to the main zine. We will only accept a handful of contributors this way as space is limited, all other art and writing for the mini zine will come from main zine volunteers who wish to contribute extra art or writing. Music, merch, and alternate creators have no restrictions on Great Ace Attorney pitches and will also have the opportunity to participate in the mini zine, if desired.
will it be possible to apply for two positions? ex applying as both an artist and writer
Yes! You may apply to multiple roles during the application although you will only be accepted for one position.
hi! hope this doesnt come off bad faith but isnt miego also attorneyxassistant?
Hello! We see where you're coming from, however, when we refer to attorney x assistant we are referring to the non-attorney characters that accompany the defense attorneys both throughout the trials and investigations. These characters are usually much younger than the attorney they accompany (such as Phoenix and Maya/Pearl, Ryunosuke and Susato/Iris, Apollo and Trucy) and we want to prevent that gray line of 'Maya is 17 in one game but 18 in the next' when it comes to ships. Although Diego helped Mia in trial, he would not qualify as her assistant as he is her coworker who is also a defense attorney helping her with a trial. Similar to how Kristoph is not Apollo's assistant, that is his boss helping him during his very first trial.
We hope this clears up any confusion!
Hello! Will all due respect, it doesn't sound like any of the mods have any experience with finished paid projects, and I find this a bit concerning?
We truly understand your concerns. We want to reassure you that our mod team has plenty of solid experience, not only as contributors and leads for fan projects (all listed in the mod section of our info doc, as well as in our personal sites & links) but as longtime creators and industry professionals. We have been sure to put extra care in our preparation for this zine, and are considering the perspective we have as contributors and buyers ourselves. We understand it is a challenge to put faith in a team who may not be familiar names in the Ace Attorney community, especially knowing the risk one takes when putting time and money into a project. We hope to ease your worries as we continue through this zine and show the extent of our preparation. We have unwavering confidence in our team, and plan to share in full transparency our progress, organization, and finances throughout. If you have any additional questions or concerns, we are here to help clear any doubts as best we can! Thank you for your interest in our team.
I read the rules for types of ships that are allowed, but I wanted to follow up if krisnix would be an allowable ship
Krisnix absolutely is allowed! We haven't provided a list of ships as that would end up making our info doc too long and there's many ships even the mods don't know about. After the interest check ends, we'll compile the list of all the ships everyone wants to see from all the submissions, but that doesn't mean that's the definite list of the only ships you can pitch during applications.
Although, all the ships typed out in the interest check (Narumitsu, krisnix, phoenix x dahlia/iris, laywright, klapollo, claypollo, miego, lanamia, and junithena) are ships we will make sure to feature in the zine! Any other rare pairs featured in the zine will be dependent on whether or not accepted contributors pitch them in their application.
Will the zine have writing?
Yes! The zine will feature art, writing, merch, and music. More information about the writing will be made public on June 14th through our info doc, but it will be similar to other zine writing. Our info doc will be linked in all our social posts we make that day and we will also link our carrd which contains the info doc to our socials, including this retrospring.
I am so excited for this what can we expect
Hi! We don't want to reveal too much as we are currently teasing our theme, which will be revealed on the 14th of June. However, that day we will also be releasing our Interest Check, Info Doc, and Carrd with all of our information about the zine. If you still have any questions about the zine after we release that info please feel free to send us another question!
Hello! Not sure if you guys have a graphics/formatting mod yet, but I'd love to help if you're looking for one 👀
Hi! We have already filled out our whole moderator team! Co-Head Mod Mars (@mschismosa, @marsberryink) is in charge of graphics and formatting. Thank you for the interest though! If you're interested in being a part of this zine still, we encourage you to fill out our interest check when it releases on June 14th and apply as a contributor which opens on July 12th.
Is traditional art allowed
Hello! Traditional art will be allowed, however, you must be able to take a high quality photo or scan of said art with a resolution of 300dpi. If you wish to make traditional art for this zine, you must also include similar samples in your portfolio with the same quality and resolution.
