okay i'm another rj name anon here. i'm a beginner in mandarin so feel free to correct me. the e in his name is (for me imo) quiet close to how ㅡ pronounced but it has more ... rolls? like you 'exaggerate' it so it also sounds like ㅓ(same case with chenle). and for the u, try to say i (ㅣ) sound but your mouth/lips is shaped when you wanna say u (ㅜ) sound. so it will be actually between i and u sound. that's why sometimes you kinda hear his name as renjin (at least for me;;)

hello!!!! thank u!!! i actually took a mandarin class for a semester so im familiar with the vowels, in theory i understand how his name in pronounced but in practice i have to think about it too hard so it doesnt rly roll of the tongue rip (with the added difficulty of tones omg!!!). which is why i just go by pronouncing it the korean way!! but how u explained it is how i understand it too! i hope the other anon sees this!! <3
