Has there ever been a show or game you dropped when you were close to finishing it?
A few.
Umineko: Dropped on EP6 (didn't like the direction the series was going).
Eureka Seven AO: I dropped near the end because I just wasn't into it, and read about what happened next, which cemented it as my least favorite anime.
Xenosaga III: I couldn't beat the second-to-last boss, so eventually, I just gave up. Have wanted to give it another go, but it's not easy to play the game these days.
Can you please send me full art Ren choker? I want to make it in real life, pleaseee :(
I don't have anything like that. If you want to see it, you can play the game.
If I want to write a vn, there is an ideal number of pages? Or how many do you recommend?
I don't know if "pages" is the right word. From what I can tell, VNs are usually measured not in pages, but in MB of text. It seems most VN companies try to aim for roughly 1-2 MB of text for an average VN.
Do you think there's any chance at all that the Infinity series will get an official re-release in English?
Unfortunately, it's not very likely. The games are probably considered too old to be worth an investment. Honestly, I've tried to make it happen through various different channels, but none of them have succeeded and due to the nature of the reasons why, I don't see it succeeding in the future either . I think at this point you would need to remake the entire series for it to have a chance of seeing an English release. If that ever happened, I'd be happy to work on it, but the circumstances would need to be right, and I don't know what the chances of remakes are.
Do you know any web page or market study that shows the sales statistics of the visual novels? I think it could interesting.
Not to my knowledge, no. At least not in the English market. You used to be able to use SteamSpy to get a general idea of how Steam VN sales are, but they changed the system so you need special access right to see it (in other words, pay to see it), or else they'll give you too wide of an estimate.
Would you possibly be able to send out the 12Riven translation as it is via a download, in case you never are able to release it publically?
Absolutely not. That would be highly illegal.
What VN have you played that you have the most mixed feelings on?
Probably Rewrite. It has some very intriguing ideas and many good moments, but is so poorly organized that it feels less like one cohesive game and more like an anthology of stories based around a common idea, leading to massive fluctuations in quality. It goes from having one of my favorite routes in a VN (Terra) to what I consider one of the worst routes I've ever played in a VN (Chihaya). I also was generally mixed on the pre-Moon routes: Lucia's Route was the only one I rated higher than a 7/10. I don't even know how to rank the overall game because of the vast fluctuations in quality. So overall, I liked it, but I have mixed feelings about the whole presentation and likely will never play it again.
Hi! So you and blick translated Root Double, right? Which parts did you each translate?
Which part seems like it has more puns? Blick did that.
Do you have plans for paradise los or kajiri kamui kagura?
It would certainly be nice if we got to localize those in the future, at least.
With another huge ass Steam sale probably coming in the next few weeks, what good localized chuuni VNs would you recommend? I already bought Dies Irae, and really enjoyed it!
Try Tokyo Babel, which Conjueror and Gare (who worked on the Dies irae localization) also worked on. I've heard good things about that one.
Talk to me about capitalism.
I'm glad you asked.
Capitalism is an economic system based on private ownership of the means of production and their operation for profit.[1][2][3] Characteristics central to capitalism include private property, capital accumulation, wage labor, voluntary exchange, a price system, and competitive markets.[4][5] In a capitalist market economy, decision-making and investment are determined by every owner of wealth, property or production ability in financial and capital markets, whereas prices and the distribution of goods and services are mainly determined by competition in goods and services markets.
What games are you playing right now?
Actively at the moment? Steins;Gate 0, Kingdom Hearts 2 FM (replaying for KH3), and Fire Emblem Echoes.
Non-actively? Too many to count, my backlog is huge, the price of growing up and being so busy.
What’s your favorite song?
Gymnopédie No. 1 by Erik Satie. It never fails to calm me down and put me at complete peace of mind.
As for translations, how do you deal with phonetic things/honomyms such as 'tako' in japanese being either octopus or callus, or 'pan' being apparently an abbreviation for panties but also mainly meaning bread?
Usually you can tell the difference from the kanji. If they are written in hiragana/katakana instead, I figure it out from context.
are you here?
i am here!
