Me yesterday:people are finally starting to see Kafka as bi
Me also seeing it’s not because of her canonical thing with the TB, oh…
Just when I thought people were finally moving on from the she’s the TB’s mom it comes back full force. And funny enough someone who’s dead set on pushing it got mad because of a thread that calls the possibility of captain being Mavuika‘s dad. How the tables have turned…
this is like 2 months old but asjsj well people love to find any and all excuses to deny kafka's very open and very important relationship with the trailblazer. there's two things those people usually do:
1. they disregard their relationship entirely or claim kafka as being abusive
2. they mischaracterize them and become ableist (this is currently the most common phenomenon but 1. used to be a big thing). the infanitliazition of the trailblazer, of their relationship with kafka etc does so much damage to not only the trailblazer (the literal mc) but also to kafka. the (very much explicit thank you) romantic subtext of their relationship is like. literally one of the best in the game, it's part of the greater narrative, it's so important to both characters. turning them into a mother & their child is not only homophobic and shows a lack of literacy, it is also just awful for the characters and 99,9% of the time ableist.
trying to paint kafka being bisexual as coming from anything besides her relationship with the trailblazer is also quite unserious as the whole "franz kafka is bisexual" is not a confirmed thing and never will be most likely. it's a theory and you can not take franz kafka as evidence for kafka herself. it has been, and will always be, the relationship with the trailblazer that gives kafka a status as bisexual character.
to no other character does kafka (so far) show any kind of romantic or sexual attraction. her dialogue and the subtext doesn't change depending on the TB's gender.
trying to frame her being bisexual coming from something else just seems like a deliberate attempt at erasing the ship (& thus actually erasing her bisexuality lol) from the discussion when it was us who pointed the fact out that kafka is bisexual. it's us who dug into her character, pulled the lore apart and found the evidence, and it's us who continue to pay attention to her romantic subtext within the story.
you don't need go like kafstel, but let's not act like kafstel & kafcae aren't the reason kafka is bisexual. this is the same thing hoyo has done with xiao, ayaka, lyney etc lol
