What is it like being a mod
I love being a mod of part of a server I care about very much! I haven't been a mod for so long, so I'm still figuring it out as I go, but it's a balance of various things. There's ensuring everyone feels included and welcome and keeping a positive, friendly, and active presence. I handle any suggestions or inquiries anyone has and do my best to answer them. Sometimes, I don't know or have the right answer, so that's why I'm glad we have a good mod team to count on.
There's planning hangouts, games, streams, and, of course, server events like ererimas and eggeri! There's a lot of work involved, from coming up with a theme, prompts, graphics, promotion, etc., but it's all worth it. We all love what we do and have a lot of fun doing it! It's one of my favorite parts of being a mod.
Then there's also the usual tidykeeping of making sure things are being talked about in the right place and that rules are being followed—typical 'mod' stuff. And yeah, sometimes that involves handling any issues/sources of conflict within a server, which is not as fun (and luckily, we haven't had so many) but important. You have a duty to your server members to handle any concerns promptly and earnestly; a duty to take care of them. So, there's a sense of responsibility.
A good way to put it is like babysitting. You're responsible for many (450+ cough) children and do fun things with them, but you need to make sure everyone is being nice, behaved, respectful, follow the rules, and if you have to--lay down the law, so to speak.
I feel like I still have a long way to go in being a mod, but I really do love it and hope I'm doing OK so far :) Sorry for the long answer, prob longer than you were looking for.
