what's the oldest manga you've read? Either from the earliest in your life or based on when it came out
The first one I read was Fullmetal Alchemist from my middle school library which set a very high bar!!!! I wish I started with something worse because it set my standards impossibly high. As orson welles said I started from the top and I’ve been working my way down ever since… oldest release date might be red coloured elegy which I read recently and loved!! I’m very under read on older manga tho (and older comics in general)

What's your favorite weirdo martial art from Ranma/what would yours be
My favourite that I’ve read so far is the tea ceremony martial arts where they scuttle around on their toes it’s SO funny. Mine would be the school of iPad martial arts where you fight while keeping the top half of your body horizontal and watching a YouTube video with your iPad sitting on your chest

were you ever/are you a superhero comic reader? any favorites? i assume you’re kind of on the opposite end of the spectrum based off your body of work but i’m curious lol
I wasn’t really! You’re right lol! I was really into Spider-Man though and I started reading a lot of Spider-Man comics. When I was a teen they were coming out with a new Spider-Man series every month it felt like. I always fell off when they would eventually change artists, I really didn’t like when I went to the store one week and the comic would look different lol which I think speaks to my unfamiliarity with this style of comic. It’s something I’d like to explore more as an adult now that I have peers to tell me what stories are worth checking out! I’m embarrassed about my lack of knowledge on such a huge percentage of comics tbh

do you have a process for coming up with ideas or do they just sorta pop into your head unexpectedly
They pop into my head, but they pop into my head more when I’m sitting down at my desk in front of my computer! Lots of my time spent “working” on comics is just sitting at my desk staring into space and coming up with things… I wish I was better at it and had a better process of organizing and keeping track of my scattered thoughts!

What do you do when you have artblock?
I don’t really have a good solution for this right now… it used to be that reading comics would break me out of my funk and inspire me, but lately reading comics just makes me want to read more comics! I’ve been banging my head against art a lot lately and would love to have a quicker way to overcome this than making a bunch of bad comic pages before I can dig out a good one!

IDK if this is a good question or not but I remember you saying you would be willing to do more stuff with the cast of Matchmaker but in a different context sometime in the future. Did you have any ideas for that?
Yeah!! I’ve actually spent quite a bit of time working on ideas for this, though none ever fully materialized. I still would really love to do it down the line! Some ideas I’ve considered that may or may not end up happening eventually:
-Marlowe takes an art program at a local college and ropes the gang into coming along to figure drawing sessions even though they can’t draw
-Marlowe and Kimmy are roommates and Mason lives with them as an eternal third wheel even though he has a bf
-Mason gets into making music after spending time doing graphic design for fairy milk. He immediately becomes very smug and overconfident after years of being a nervous wreck
-Kimmy and Mason play the elden ring dlc
-Kimmy and Mason get really into card games and their house becomes an underground poker ring within the friend group
-Kimmy has a midlife crisis at 24. Keeps coming to a 30 year old Sam for “advice on being old”
-Emma and Marlowe drunk make out but kimmy and josh think it’s kind of hot and vow never to stop it. Drunk Emma and drunk Marlowe start going out but their sober counterparts have no idea
-kimmy gets hungry and makes a really good grilled cheese sandwich

Describe the perfect nap.
I had the perfect nap the other day… I was visiting my family on the island and we stayed in a little cabin near the beach. We came back from walking the dog and I crashed onto the bed… I took off my glasses and felt myself sink into the covers. Blinked my eyes open and it was an hour later and the sun had gone down a little and I felt refreshed and lovely

What's your favorite boss of the elden ring dlc?
I had an unforgettable experience beating the dancing lion first time after being stuck on every single other boss in the game… everything came together and it was a beautiful experience and the first time I’ve ever felt good at Elden ring!!! Otherwise I adored the sunflower and rellana…. Still more to meet too!!
