So basically Dean Winchester is a hunter and big brother of Sam Winchester! A hunter in that universe (atleast this type of hunter) is a person that. Well. Hunts things that aren't really seen as real. What I mean is they hunt demons, spirits, witches and literally any supernatural/paranormal entity you can think of. Including vampires and werewolves! When he was 4 years old there was a fire in his home where his mother died (not an ordinary fire. It was Azazel oops). He saw his mother on the ceiling of the nursery where Sam was as she was being consumed in flames. John (the father of Dean and Sam) told Dean to get outside with baby Sam as fast as he could, and so, he did. That's basically how everything started for him. So alas this dude grew up depressed as heyyll and the neglectful dad didn't help. When he was growing up, since John was a hunter too and would be gone most days, Dean would be the one looking after Sam and basically doubled as a brother and caretaker. Quick fun facts are that he's an Aquarius, his eyes are green ("fanfiction green", as dubbed by fandom. This is scarily accurate) and he has a type for 'frisky women' (his words yall). Oh yeah did I mention the emotional unavailability? Well I'm about to. Being a kid like Dean ment that nobody was ever there to take care of HIM, I.e. he would never be reassured about things when he was stressed and if he was scared of anything he would just have to suck it up. Nobody looked after him as a kid, he was the one that would look after others. With that fact in mind, we can see how he finds it confusing when others try to reach out to him in a way that people should've in the past. He also always has trouble opening up about his feelings much for the same reasons. Even when SAM tries to talk with him about stuff like that he usually doesn't succeed. Another fun fact his best friend is Castiel which is a whole other can of worms so let's NOT GET INTO THAT!!!!
