fujimoto will have to personally drag me kicking and screaming to a sped-up film of the process of decomposition taking over nayuta's corpse to convince me that she's permanently dead. especially for a horseman of the apocalypse (even if much weaker now), especially for one of kiga's sisters, especially with her character weight in relation to makima barely having scratched the surface. fujimoto is not gege in terms of character deaths, he works with death differently in his stories and I am deeply unconvinced that he'd let a character such as nayuta go like that.

I'm also very doubtful in people discussing nayuta as fodder for asaden, even with my current criticisms of part two's current writing. her character goes beyond them when it comes to the wider scheme of the storyline, and personally, I think nayuta's repeated expression of disinterest for humanity and growing curiosity for devils is going to take a more important focus soon, if her death is meant to symbolize her transition from humanity (tied down by denji, who abandoned her) to hell (guided by kiga, who offers her acceptance of her nature.) (contrasting conflict of family and what it means for the control devil)

LMAO i mention him once and you crash in with the pitchforks. criston infuriates me as a person and i pray for his downfall every day, but i think it's really funny how ever since rheanyra rejected him he's been just. standing there. seething. hating. experienced an absolutely godawful not-exactly-consensual-and-somewhat-coerced-on-his-end situationship with the heir to the throne, broke his most important vow to the realm because of her, got discarded once she got bored, watched her get everything she wants (his pov, not mine), became an open misogynyst and has since then made it his mission to be rheanyra's number one obstacle and hater every step of her way for the rest of his mangled life. he's even fucking rheanyra's other ex in mutual hateful trauma bonding now, he's truly hitting that sigma haterism grindset. i sense him as a walking consequence to rheanyra's thoughtless actions and privileged entitlement that is meant to bite her in the ass later, but yeah beyond that he's just. There. recycling his trauma with alicent. creating problems on purpose. decaying, bothered, unmoisturized. rancid little cryptid man with one function only.

first of all that would be so fucking funny in terms of tiny flamethrower hybrid and huge raging forest fire primal fear i agree. second of all i would kill for eldritch volatile all-consuming horror of fire being brought to life. third of all, this makes me giggle a little ; when the fire devil was first namedropped, a friend and i theorized on it having a god/demi-god inspired potential relationship with creations related to it, eg fears that originate from the primal fear of fire, which would bind the flamethrower devil hybrid to its flesh and existence. concepts build and stack on top of each other, so it's not too far fetched to think of it having a deeper connection to barem. some inconsistencies make this idea a bit finnicky at the edges to maintain solid worldbuilding (i build this logic to connect the war devil with its weapons, so it'd be a bit hard to allow a character like barem to be both bound to fire and war? if that makes sense), so i'm not setting my hopes up too much for anything in canon, but it is definitely very fun to think about!

!!!! i've been really intrigued by this new development too! tbh the chapters surrounding nayuta's dream, denji's nightmare, yoshida's place in public safety and the following dismemberement have been a really nice breath of fresh air after the growing stagnancy i've been personally feeling around part two at that time. "how can you do that without your legs?" gave me such thrilling goosebumps, a nice reminder that pochita is a devil too, and that it extends to his pure love for denji. this train of thought compliments the conversation that nayuta creates around the theme of nature versus nurture nicely, her conflict with denji, as she eggs him on to also abandon humanity, detach himself from its identity, and embrace the devil in him more. his desire for family in her, a devil, outweighing his connection to humans, yet the sacrifice he makes out of her to emulate the role of the csm. there's something here to dig into with these three: in how pochita requests that denji take the new control devil under his wing and grant her a world equal to her heart, in how makima rejected her nature as a devil to find that lost sense of belonging within humanity, and in how nayuta opposes her by rejecting humanity (for what i suspect are similar reasons no less! makima is rejected by her sisters, her kin, as humans do with nayuta!) and wishing to embrace her nature and kinship with devils and the horsemen instead. pochita putting the emphasis on the control devil and the world she needs rather than the good of humanity as a whole is a distinction worth noting in contrast with his care and love for denji, i like it and would love to see if there's more to it!
