why don’t you like endogenic systems? i keep seeing discourse about them on my feed and it kinda is upsetting, and it made me a little sad to see one of my favorite users is endophobic
I have a complicated view on endogenic systems, and I will answer this EXACTLY one time and will never touch on it again or accept any other questions on this topic.
First off, I don't have ANY memory of saying anything about endo systems on my profile, but that doesn't mean it's not there. I also don't repost discourse at all, and I do my damndest to not talk about it when I see it. So I'm really not sure where you're getting this from. The ONLY time I have mentioned endo systems is in my DNI. So if you say I'm one of your "favorite users," implying you've been following me for a while, and you're only JUST NOW looking at my DNI? Not my problem or my fault. It's been in my DNI since I made the account for my personal comfort, nothing personal.
Secondly, I have DID. I am a system, and our origin is 100000% traumagenic. I also am a licensed therapist. So that's where my opinion begins.
IRT my opinion on endo systems: I do NOT believe systems can occur without trauma. So a LOT of people who claim to be endogenic and know For Sure that they have NO trauma whatsoever, I firmly do not believe them. DID is a traumagenic disorder. It can't occur without having experienced some level of trauma, no matter how major or minor anyone outside the system thinks the trauma is. The brain splits off in order to protect the individual from trauma. Not for fun and sport.
Now, this isn't to say that people who think they're endogenic don't have traumagenic origins. Many people who THINK they're endogenic are actually traumagenic and just simply do not remember their trauma because the system is doing its job of protecting the individual. HOWEVER. They do in fact still have trauma, even if they don't remember it.
Those who say they know for a fact 10000% they don't have any trauma? Are using my disorder and the disorder of others that we struggle with to essentially roleplay. And those who do this can sometimes have malicious intent behind it and have in fact used "endogenic" as a way to abuse people that I know who DO have trauma but had trouble remembering it due to the disorder doing its job of protecting them. And I fucking do not like that.
This is not to say that Every person who uses the term "endogenic" is malicious or abusive. That's just something that happens. And if someone IS faking DID, there's bigger problems at work that need taken care of.
TL;DR: Endogenic systems simply do not exist. The people who have systems and think they have no trauma simply don't remember it due to the disorder doing its job. Those who "have" systems and know they have no trauma that would've caused it are simply struggling in other areas or are looking for individuals to prey on. Sorry if my opinion both as someone with DID and a licensed therapist hurts your feelings.
Also: Don't ever call me "endophobic" again. It's ripping off actual -phobias, -isms, etc. Stating that I believe DID is a traumagenic disorder doesn't make me any -phobic or -ist. It's simply the truth.
Will no longer be accepting or answering questions about this topic. Do not send any more. If my opinion on this makes you uncomfortable, you are free to block or unfollow. I don't care. Perhaps read people's DNI before interacting with them so you don't have "favorite users" suddenly hurting your feelings for simply having boundaries.
