Wash everyday, trim regularly, make sure beard doesn't tangle, and it'll look nice and tidy all the time! If it's growing matted, shave off and try again. Maybe more of a personal preference, but i always try to cut my beard in a way that's shorter by the side and much longer at the bottom. It's supposed to bring out your chin and eccentuate your jaw, so wider = bad, longer = good. That's a lot... I've just been keeping real good care of mine since I grew it, my hair's my pride and joy LOL, though as for growth, I fear I don't have any advice other than you've got to win the genetics lottery, so i hope luck's on your side anon!
