Hi! Just hopping on to thank you for your contribution to the Solavelyan ship on AO3! Succumbing pretty much converted me to Solavelyan and every time I reread it, I’m completely enthralled! You’re incredible at getting into the deepest crevices of a character’s mind, I could honestly write an academic paper on this alone. The way you intertwine all those conflicting feelings - love and hatred, lust and the longing for closeness, self-loathing and self-righteousness - and you do so so seamlessly and compellingly - makes me want to tear at my clothes and throw myself from a cliff. Could you share a list of your favourite books or ones you think have influenced your writing the most? I’m dying to know what you’ve been feeding that incredible mind of yours with!! All the best to you!
omg thank you! my solavelyan era is so long ago so i'm so flattered that someone might find that work and resonate with it so much - thanks to veilguard, i suppose haha
as for favorite books... that's really hard haha. i think sara douglass and anne bishop had huge impacts on my writing in my formative years. same with pullman's golden compass and a few other 90s classics. recently, i've been trying to read a wider variety of work, and i want to pull in elements from nk jemisen's style, richard powers' the overstory, tj klune, robert jackson bennet, and simon jimenez
