i honestly like it a lot. i'm a big fan of characters who go through something traumatic looking into career paths that will let them protect other people from experiencing the same thing - it's something i see a lot of my own goals in, so it really resonates with my core values. with kaname, i hc that he has to go to speech therapy for a while, and brain or head trauma can make it really difficult to make quick progress with speech therapy. irl i actually have what educational therapists have diagnosed as a developmental disability caused speech impediment!! these types of speech impediments can be super impacted by your emotional state - where i am in my life now, i rarely experience flare ups. but i think speech therapy is difficult for kaname because he feels things in such extremes. he uses a mix of jsl with spoken japanese in my post-canon hc, and while i do think over time his speech will get easier, it's something that i see making him incredibly insecure about ever returning to being an idol. it depends a lot on how long his recovery period is and how much growth and reflection he goes through during it - because he's not under any obligation to! he doesn't have to sit around and work on himself, you know? he's allowed to be angry and lash out during his recovery! but i think a lot of that will determine both how quickly he wants to return to the idol industry, and how quickly he realises he doesn't want to return to it as an idol. and i'm not really sure of my stance on how long any of that takes! :o because i want to be realistic about it, but i want to be fair and kind as well. kaname has already been through so much, so i don't want to add on like two years of existential crisis to his character arc, you know? but also finding out you might not be able to do the thing you've dreamed of since childhood because of physical disability is something i have had to come to terms with myself, and it's not quick or easy. this is probably a lot longer than you were expecting, huh? but tl;dr i do think a postcanon adult kaname definitely goes into either production or music journalism!!! tbh maybe he dabbles in both
