there is just something so intimate about this hug. If you know their lore about being trainees previously and just think about how hard they worked to get there😭 bin asking maet to stay in Korea cause he believed in Maets abilities that much but also cause he wanted to debut with Matthew. they def started holding hands in their trainee days like after practice, they’re sitting down, and bin reaches his hand out to hold his hand for comfort but doesn’t realize they’ve never done held hands before, and when maet points it out, bin tries his best to make the situation less uncomfortable for them because he doesn’t know if maet is comfortable with it so he tries to play it off like his hand accidentally landed on top of his, something like that, something really very cute but maet holds his hand and after that they just hold hands whenever because bin knows they’re both comfortable,, this is just in my head 😞😞

I feel like maet overall a overthinker but also a very brave person, so just like he the one who talk to bin first, I think he would also be the one to initiate the first kiss first, not a wild makeout but just a soft peck and bin would be shock but initiate the second kiss, more wild, more passionate.

my headcanon for trainees maetbin is definitely ambiguous best friends. they are idols (or well. training to be one) , they cannot exactly date and have it reflect badly on the background searches their future fans will do. they were friends but also something more. lovers but not exactly. they were "friends" who did questionable romantic things together. hanbin used to pet and cuddle matthew to sleep back then as well, they used to go on several late night drives which usually ended in them going to hanbin's place (hanbin also had a solo apartment in seoul after leaving cube so connect the dots yourself), matthew showed up at just jerk wearing hanbin's flannel as well. there's also hanbin calling stargazing a romantic activity and then revealing that he drove matthew to go stargazing together. they were really best friends with severe romantic undertones, all lines blurred you can't even tell where one begins and where the other ends.
i would headcanon that they really really fell for each other After hanbin left cube. it went from friends to something more than friends. atleast in feelings.
so imagine how heartbroken hanbin would've been when matthew told him that he is giving up and will return to canada. matthew will not only be leaving behind his dreams but also hanbin himself. and hanbin didn't want that to unfold at any cost.

my hc is sungseok were purely bestfriends but bin felt something more towards him but never dare to confess but he didnt know if matt likes guys and dont want to ruin their friendship. i think their friendship started to shift a lot when they werent together anymore as trainees, they prolly really missed each other a lot and then bin asked him to stay..

Maybe they texted and called a lot more, dropping ilys here and there or maybe physically since they weren’t together 24/7 anymore. The times they would see each other it was lots of hugs and cuddles but just as friends of course. 🤨 ugh i also imagine maet reading bins letter quite often, whenever he felt down or couldn’t see bin in person. AHHHHHHH maet is the absolute cutest person in the world especially when it comes to expressing his love 😭 thinking about him making pancakes for bin in the morning hurts my heart in the best way 🤧🤧 also now all i can think about is jias edit about maetbin and how food is their love language
