You mentioned that geonmaet are very compatible even intellectually, since maet loves how smart geon is, and geon is curious about maet too with the language and cultural differences, but wouldn't those get old at some point? As time goes by, would he not require other mental stimulation as he satisfies those differences he's curious about? /genq I'm genuinely curious about your perspective, I hope the question doesn't seem rude in any way!
Gosh this is a tough question to answer! I don't think this was asked with any mal-intent, so pls no one get mad in the replies etc. I just think it was worded... questionably. lol.
I think the first assumption to respond to is this: that once a person is 'satisfied' from learning their differences from their partner they'd get bored. Does this not apply to ever couple ever? Why do people stay together once you've found out what there is to know about a person? What's the point? It basically feels like you're asking "why does anyone stay together romantically with a person long-term?"
And that's a complicated question to answer, for a billion different reasons. But I'll try my best in a broad sense. Loving the way a person thinks is not the same as loving learning about a person. Even if/when Geon learns everything there is to know about Maet, that doesn't mean he'd stop finding him interesting all of a sudden. Mental stimulation goes beyond just learning facts and teaching, it's about the discussion, the debate you may have. It's about going to watch a movie with a person and hearing their thoughts about it afterwards, enjoying how their perspective completely differs from yours and finding more to talk about because of it. People also change over time, their interests, what they like to do, what they like to watch, listen to etc. Nobody is static and as people change and develop they learn new things. So there are always new things to learn about a person because time won't allow for someone to stay the same.
When you love someone, and you love their brain, you don't get bored. You continue to have an appetite for that person and what they think and that just comes with being attracted and enjoying being around someone. Both Geon and Maet are very down to earth people and they compliment each other very well and have a physical and mental attraction to one another that is hard to find. When you love someone, yes occasionally you might get a bit bored, but generally speaking, you will find a new reason to be interested and love them everyday.
