new fan so sorry if this has been covered- are you into true crime or do you have strong opinions about people who are? did a specific irl happening inspire what griffin did, or did you just imagine it? asking as a transmasc who is self-aware enough to admit that he can’t stop himself from rubbernecking at true crime
i am into true crime in a sense. i dislike a lot of true crime fans but i don't think i'm "one of the good ones" because there isn't really any such thing. i don't have cop fantasies of stamping out degenerates and i'm not a paranoid suburbanite cowering behind a ring camera. i try to keep in mind that there but for the grace of god go i. but it's an exploitative medium. the plot of the comic isn't based on any one real event but it's a hodgepodge of many.

Gee thx max for making gage so kinnable, they're easily one of my worst kins but fits so neatly with my visuals, vibes, and kin tropes. How many of the characters we have met so far were at least somewhat formed before you started whn? Obviously this work keeps developing as you build it, so I wanna know what characters came to you as you worked on it rather than being there from the start
most existed in some form- milo, vikki, audrey, and griffin are the oldest. claire came shortly after. gage was very different originally, older and a woman. aaron and xandra are probably the most recent inventions, created to give claire and vikki sounding boards.

What inspired WHN to begin with?
people always ask this like there's some real criminal case or personal event that inspired whn and both of those are kind of true and also neither are true. hope this helps

when making WHN updates, what is your process like? do you start with a script, then draw it, for example? and how far ahead have you drafted the plot? i’m so curious bc each update feels like i never could have guessed it coming, yet when i reread WHN in its entirety once a month or so, it all fits v consistently and has plenty of foreshadowing/narrative “sense” that i was seeing all along but totally missed until after the fact, which is so cool :) (apologies if you’ve answered this before & i missed it!)
i write a script every chapter. i get as close to finished as i can, but i always end up editing as i draw the chapter. there is an outline but it's subject to change.

milo is on t. i don't think the medical transition statuses of the characters are that important though. whatever you need to know about that, you can probably guess from context.
