i love how everyone uses mikoto as the pinnacle example of male fandom characters whose popularity was elevated by misogyny and how everyone deep dives into his character because every single time I check in on mikoto fans there's always someone talking about how people should stop being so weird about his DID. idk it maybe true that he might be more popular because he's a guy but that doesn't mean people are completely normal about him either and treat his character with respect? some cases are just more complex 😓
talking about fandom misogyny publicly makes me want to blow my brains out but essentially the main issue with milgram fans in this regard is the degree of analysis carried out for male vs female characters which can influence verdict in both directions really... i’m having trouble wording this but basically while misogyny is ever present the “if she was a man you would forgive her!! look at [male character]!!” argument feels very cheap most of the time since no two milgram cases are the same. in some cases changing the gender of the character would change their case altogether. also i think all of the cases are complex in their own ways so i’m not sure i agree there. anyway sorry this is such a nothingburger answer i think if you know me then you will understand what i mean but otherwise, well
