Personally I think that with the rise of social media, individuals have been pushed into making statements about every topic regardless of their competency to do so, whereas in the past things would have been discussed over family dinners and other private events. For the record, I think that what's happening is absolutely heart-wrenching and my heart skips a beat every time I open a news app or talk to a family member about it. It's bad. It's horrible. I'm keeping myself informed in a way that suits me.
