i think i had yelled this in the ramble acc but im always particular of the separation of the embrace & victor as his name in my fics! tbh just embrace in general! (SHAKES THIS SAD VAMPIRE) I LOVE HIM YOUR HONOR

for simplicity sake, ill just refer victor as that most of the time bc this is going to be a LOT i apologize in advance /laughs.

this is just my penchant with angst talking, but i always love showing how victor sees himself in bloodline au. who is he, at his very core? there's so many hcs i can conjure on how victor came to be as embrace, connecting it with his herald skin for consistency, but how victor fell from grace remained the same for me; all he wanted to do was help, but the power he was given wasn't for helping at /all./ thus he is soon reviled as a monster, and as he fell into despair from the futility of his actions, he accepted being one and even prove that yes, he is a /monster/ everyone believed. :)

names are power, in some way. its an identity you see and an agency over yourself, and it is what you want others to see you as, even if it wouldn't be the same perspective for others. with victor, his name is somewhat a link to his humanity- the very thing that made him want to try /helping/ others. but as most would notice in my embrace fics, the name victor is near non-existent when referring to the vampire progenitor himself :).

its a way to show that he long abandoned those ideals, his /humanity/. ala him 'accepting his dark side,' and letting others prove that he is, after all, a monster they see him as. he cant change their minds, no matter how he would try, so why bother fighting anymore? as fbg had wrote in their game, 'become fire rather than be burnt.' its better for victor to become embrace instead and make their accusations be truth rather than always be hurt trying his best to help them only to fail miserably and be subjected by more scorn and anger.

its also victor losing his belief towards humanity and turning his back from them.

it doesnt help too that eventually, victor believes that he's monstrous enough to have a human name, thus the embrace title.

this is also why i kind of make this a thing with vampire husbands fic, where aesop vehemently refuses to call human victor by anything but his name, especially when he's his reincarnation. the embrace is a title revered and feared to most, it not all. it has weight, it has power, but it also isolates victor from the rest of them. i made this joke in the server once, but aesop calling embrace endearments is just him trying to close the gap between them since it is vry weird for the husband to keep calling him his title (at least to aesop /laughs)

so yeah, this is basically my thoughts over the embrace & victor divide thats going on in my fics hahaha im sorry this took a while i got distracted a lot :skull:
