Hello, I had a question about romantic stuff being allowed for this zine. I'm still kinda new to fandom terms; I've read off of the manga back in the day and watched both animes but never been in a fandom before. I understand proship means problematic so kv I get, but wouldn't that really mean most ships with Knives? There are red flags for Conrad, his abusive attitude to Legato and torturing Wolfwood and threatening his loved ones. What romantic content would this zine accept?
Thanks for your question! The team is asking for the specific exclusion of incest because "pro/anti" have very subjective definitions but you're absolutely correct about Knives' relationships being fraught with abuse. As long as prompts center around Knives and are SFW, other content can be discussed during the contributor pitch period. I know that's not a "This will absolutely will be/won't be allowed" but we genuinely are looking forward to getting to see what the community brings to the table - within the framework of the manga and anime canons, and in any number of AUs.
I was curious about the contributors, what are the limitations for who can apply and since this is a charity zine does it mean the contributors won’t be paid?
If the disqualification criteria laid out in the about section of our carrd don't apply to you, and you like Millions Knives, then you're more than welcome to apply when contributor applications open up! As for your second question, artists are allowed to share and sell their work after the zine has been completed, but all money raised (after production costs) will go to the charity chosen. Hope that helps but if you still have questions feel free to reach out again 🩵
i know proshippers aren’t allowed but what about the people who just don’t care about the gross stuff (but aren’t super puritan either) since there’s many trigun creators like that including myself. can’t stand kv for reasons personal but also not gonna police others too much yk
We hope to communicate that excluding those who create and circulate kv content is meant to create a secure workspace for contributors who would feel unsafe otherwise. Our team has no intention of singling out those who would be disqualified by our project boundaries and have asked that they simply not engage. If our disqualification criteria don't apply to you, you are of course still encouraged to stick around until applications open 🩵
hey do any of the mods have any zine experience? because it's not listed in the carrd and that's kinda concerning if none of you have any experience or are failing to mention it, considering how many zines scams there have been...
This is a very valid concern to have! We understand that a provably experienced staff would better quell this concern and we have no intention of being less than transparent with this information. While our current staff may have minimal zine-specific experience, we are still expanding and looking to fill certain roles (most notably finance, production, and additional head positions). While we gauge interest in the project and search out additional mods, the team is speaking with friends/colleagues with more experience in order to better inform and prepare for the work. Should you know anyone with experience who would be interested in joining the team or offering advice we'd gladly accept references!
Hi! Just wanting to send some positive feedback.
I'm a proshipper and a Kniveslover, and I won't apply for your zine. You made it very clear that you wouldn't appreciate it, which is perfectly fine.
I'm still very excited for this project and very much looking forward to the finished product. 💖
I wish you the best of luck and success! May I suggest Care For Gaza as a charity to consider?
Much love!
Hi, thanks for your question and support 🩵 Care for Gaza has been brought up several times since we decided on doing a charity donation, but we've been a little worried about the possibility of getting to the point of donating funds and finding that their paypal will be temporarily shut down again and we'll have to very quickly pivot without being able to get the ok from backers first. Esim programs and Yemen aid funds have also come up since they've been firm in their support of the Palestinian people. It's a conversation we are hoping to open up to both the general public and any contributors to make sure everyone knows exactly where their money is going.
This zines number one selling point is that its anti kv, you’re wasting everyone’s time just put it in the bio. Also I’m hard pressed to believe you’ll be “politely declining” kv shipper applications when one of your mods is so vocally violent to them over a silly little anime ship 🙄
Putting pro/anti/whatever in the bio is not required for other zines across multiple fandoms - they expect interested people to read about the zine themselves - so the team felt it was unnecessary. That said, I completely understand your concern about harassment and threatening tweets - that tweet (and the unassociated individual who made threats against kv shippers in a rt) does reflect very badly on the team and has been privately addressed, in a team conduct discussion and a personal conversation with the other person - but I hope that knowing that and that I, as the socmed mod, will be who handles replies to applications and questions here on rs puts you more at ease. Just because kv makes me incredibly uncomfortable, doesn't mean that people should treated poorly online for it. This project isn't going to be for everyone and that's ok, where people spend their talent, money, and time is their choice because it is, as you say, 'a silly little anime ship'.
Can you put a plantcest dni in the bio or something? It's a Knives zine, most of his fans here ship KV so I think it needs to be more visible if you want to exclude them since not everyone will go to your carrd immediately. Good luck!
Hi! While you're correct that some people might not check the carrd first, it's in bold text at the top of the IC. When we get to contributor applications, the team will be thoroughly reviewing contributors' applications and accounts, and we feel comfortable politely communicating rejection based on kv content creation so even if someone does miss the multiple iterations of this rule, we will be holding firm to the boundary we've set since day 1. Lastly, the MB team is trying not to give kv or proshippers a platform, as they are ultimately a very vocal minority and NOT the majority of Knives' fans. Thanks for looking out for us, but we won't be putting that in the bio at this time for those reasons.
