GENUINELY IVE ALWAYS HAD SUCH A FASCINATION WITH MUSICAL ARTISTS BECAUSE I AM COMPLETELY TONE DEAF AND CANNOT SING AT ALL. I know next to nothing about making music and I really wanted to create an oc who just made music for the love of it. Akihiko was always designed to kind of be the party guy but once I started getting very into kradness (around the time I started misatoverse) and I realized how fitting he was as a voice claim for akihiko, I knew I had to make him a singer or at the very least obsessed with karaoke. It actually wasn’t until 2018 that I officially put him into a band though! Prior to that he just really liked to sing. It was around august 2018 when I was doing a huge misato lore overhaul and was like well… if he’s in a band I guess he needs some band members… so I threw in mitsuharu who was already his best friend and into loud music and then created mikio and katsu (originally named haru) to go with them. They were and still are my token idol ocs especially akihiko and katsu. I love to explode him in my mind

IM A LITTLE BUZZED BUT I THINK THIS IS ASKING HOW I MADE DA MISATOS JUST BASED ON THE CORPSE PARTY NAMETAG STUFF? PLS FORGIVE ME IF IM WRONG. BUT I WOULD ABSOLUTELY LOVR TO TALK ABOUT THIS.
Honestly when the misatos first started out they were NOT all that unique from each other (for a while there akihiko and mitsuharu were practically carbon copies of each other - even their old hairstyles were practically the same except mitsuharu’s ahoge pointed up while akihiko's pointed down) and it took a lot of time to really develop them into who they are today! for a few of them i actually had some vague scraps of canon material to work off of (canonically kain and yuma have handwritten notes you can find throughout the same, plus you actually meet and interact with yoshiyuki as a ghost) so I kind of started with those parts and worked from there! Kain and mitsuharu being very close was the only canonical relationship within the corpse party game so I put a LOT of emphasis on them at first. Quite a few of the misatos had different personalities when they were first conceptualized too! Hatto was much more soft spoken and shy, while mitsuharu was a lot more of a sort of aimlessly cheerful, almost ditzy type. Yuma even had a completely different initial design and KAIN was the initial tsundere of misatoverse. I really think the biggest thing that contributed to how their personalities changed and developed was meeting more people. Quite a few of the misatos are inspired by my friends (for example the most obvious one is how sonic-influenced mitsuharu is and how much he contributed to his development into the character he is today) and observing the quirks from people I knew made the misatos become more like real people to me too. Like I was a total friendless loser in middle school when I made the initial 10 misatos! I created them in 7th grade around the time I talked about in a previous answer and didn’t have a very good grasp on normal interactions between people at that time. I think that that even contributed to why I sort of moved on from the misatos around 9th grade and only got back into them in 11th grade when I began to actually make real friends for the first time and learned how people interact with each other… at its core misatoverse has always just been this friend group I’ve dreamed up in my mind and I love trying to view the world through their eyes, considering their thoughts and feelings on stuff around them. This answer got so long i just really wanted to talk about the process of how the misatos became so important to me

This is kind of dark but in 7th grade I was “assigned” a group of friends by the school psych and they were basically told to be friends with me but they didn’t like me at all 😭 Half of them had me blocked on social media which I never realized. It took me years to realize that I was the autistic kid shoehorned into a friend group by teachers like this possibility didn’t even occur (consciously) to me until I was like 21. I know such wonderful people now and have such amazing friends but consciously realizing that made me realize why I’ve had such difficulty opening myself up and making friends with people for so long cuz I Was that weird autistic guy

Misatoverse takes place in 2008 but I take liberties with this when discussing out of canon stuff so dont mind that half of these anime would not even be released yet
Akihiko: He considers anime to be too nerdy for him but he’s 100% secretly into gacha games. Like I know he would whale for eli ayase
Hatto: He only watches anime because yoshiyuki is into it but he enjoyed death note and another. He’s insufferable to be around he sympathizes with light
Himawari: Classic magical girl anime like creamy mami and mid 2000s stuff like precure for sure
Kain: I know her ass secretly likes shoujo stuff like tonari no kaibutsu kin and ao haru ride but she’d never admit that
Katsu: Surprisingly I feel like he was never really into anime but I DO feel like he’s always been into japanese idols/girl and boy groups
Ken: Not really into anime but I think ken would secretly be interested in dnd. I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately
Kokuhaku: She wasn’t allowed to watch anime as a child but her sister miyuki loves shonen manga so I feel like she’d know enough to like. Identify a couple characters. Like she’d see goku and be like oh it’s dragon ball-san
Maki watched (watches) all kinds of anime and was (is) a huge gatekeeper especially for the more obscure anime she likes. I can definitely see her collecting series like tokyo ghoul and I know her ass kinned misa amane
Mikio and mitsuharu also were never really into anime but I feel like mitsuharu could get into chainsaw man because he relates to denji
Shin loves horror and murder mystery manga and higurashi is her favourite. I hate the fact that she would be into danganronpa
A bunch of kain’s shoujo manga are hand me downs from shinju because she was also super into it when she was younger. She claims to have outgrown it but there’s a reason she gave them to kain instead of selling them off

Tomoe fuckjng loves anything anime and she’s obsessed with miku. Shes totally the type to kin tomoko from watamote
Yoshiyuki considers himself to be pretty well versed in anime with nge being his favourite and lots of classics like akira ghost in the shell etc etc. He definitely gets into fights on forums over shit
Yuma also wasn’t really into manga as a child but has become a lot more interested after meeting tomoe. Most of what she knows is from what tomoe has showed her. We should introduce her to yuri manga

2003-2006ish: My 2 biggest hyperfixations were toopy and binoo (canadian kids cartoon) and eddie from little people
2007: This is when I really started getting into video games and was fixated on toad and toadette as well as animal crossing wild world. I worked for the whole summer walking dogs to save up enough money for a ds lite and acww
2008: Still acww but also pokemon diamond. I’d played emerald before this but diamond is still one of my favourite games by far. I was also VERY into the smurfs at this time and watched the old cartoon every day
2009-2010: Definitely mario kart wii. I kept a diary log of everything I did each day and my time trial records. Still my favourite mario kart game
2011: I started getting really into sonic at this time starting with sonic rush and sonic x and was INTENSELY fixated on the whole series until around late 2013
2013: I first started getting into “anime” aka my obsession with rin kagamine started. I’d watched a corpse party playthrough early in the year but didn’t fixate on it yet
2014: For the first half of the year it was pokemon y and animal crossing new leaf, but around the summer I got EXTREMELY into danganronpa and death note and ran all kinds of blogs related to it. My kokuhaku fixation started in april but I didn’t take it to the next level until october 2014
2015: Corpse party and misatoverse all the way. This was the original year of the misato. I also was extremely into love live
2016: I began fixating more on sonic and pokemon partway through 2016 since this was my. How you say. Year of kin. It was a bad year
2017: Brief misato fixation and then fully into eddsworld for the rest of the year
2018: Into eddsworld until the summer of 2018 where I then got back into misatos this time for good
2019: Misatos
2020: Misatos animal crossing new horizons and also splatoon 2 and saiki k
2021: Misatos and collecting pokemon merch was a huge one this year. I also played miitopia and drew my ocs from there a ton
2022: Misatos and higurashi pretty much for the whole year. Pokemon legends arceus as well
2023: Misatos mostly. I also went through a style savvy phase
2024 NOW: Misatos and animal crossing gamecube 100%

Akihiko: Absolutely mimi. I feel like mimi/akihiko is such a good matchup because akihiko has such a tendency to fall for people based on surface level perceptions + mimi who doesn’t let anyone know him beyond surface level perceptions. I feel like they would make an amazing celebrity pairing where people project their own ideals onto their relationship. Does this make sense. I also feel like he’d want to be like lucius in the same way he wants to be like mikio
Hatto: Him and silver need to meet asap like just because I want to see the carnage of it all. Mimi changing his persona and acting like miyu around him would be a wonderful idea as well
Himawari: I definitely have to say mimi again because hima loves having a senpai to look up to and I feel like mimi could fill that role for her. Mimi is so versatile on the surface
Kain: I kind of think yura and kain hanging out would be really funny because they can totally study together but I also feel like kain is just too energetic for yura’s tastes. I also want kain to meet silver because she would cry at how tall she was compared to her
Katsu: Katsu/mimi is so fucking incredible. Like I just love imagining their dynamic. I want him to meet ruruka as well so badly. And delta as well due to her similarities to mikio. Also lucius becayse I feel like he would instantly get some mikio vibes from them
Ken: Definitely yura I feel like they would get along so splendidly. I love it when two straight man persona characters are paired up together. I really loved the idea of him and lucius meeting too from your answer like it looks like an unexpected combo based on appearances but it’s really really good

Shin: I have always wanted to draw yana and shin together like the matching buns I love it. The idea of mimi and shin and akihiko all hanging out and mimi teasing akihiko in front of shin is kind of beautiful to me
Shinju: Yura and shinju drinking buddies is such an incredible concept this is like also something I want to draw. Them drinking across from each other in a kotatsu
Tomoe: This might be crazy but I think tomoe would LOVE delta like not only does he get along well with yuma but he’s fucking ourple. She would go crazy over him
