seeing certain comments on ur ao3 cylynn compilation is so infuriating. deliberately IGNORING the text and subtext youve created! about lynn, too, being morally corrupt! about her attraction to what cy does! about cy genuinely caring for lynn and not wanting her dead or gone especially later on. its literally in front of them and they choose to disregard it and fantasise about a completely different set of characters w the weak abuse victim woman and the evil emotionless man. i dont know it feels so…. i wanna say disrespectful to ur work bc that sounds better but honestly i think it mostly bothers me b/c media literacy >:(
While I chose not to get too upset at those comments... Yeah, it is a bit annoying to see people ignore things that aren't even subtextual- Lynn is a "willing victim" at worst, she chose Cy at every crossroad and her slowly compromising her morals parallels Cy's slow but significant shift in behavior and feelings for her. He genuinely loves her and the mere idea that he could ever move on from her is laughable. He can never get over her, if anything happened to her he'd be devastated. Just because he's an asshole who plays up how horrible he can be doesn't mean he actually has it in him to willingingly kill her or throw her away... Ah, well, I'm guessing victim/perpetrator is a simpler dynamic for some people to understand.
