hey mango! i have a question i started digi art a month ago and i need some advice on procreate...idk how to color, let alone render and what brushes are useful for me so i'm just messing around... besides it's wrong to use references...? the only fanart i've done that makes me proud is a suguru fanart and it's based on a reference… and i feel too guilty/ like a bit of a fraud yk…—
it's isnt wrong to use references! dont ever be afraid to use references, your brain is not meant to hold and retain all the information ever and if you need held with a pose or shading then references are highly recommended and there is nothing wrong with that! please never feel guilt for needing help, relying just on your imagination isnt very helpful for most artists. however if you reference other people's art, i really would suggest asking the original artist first and crediting them. straight up copying is never okay but if you reference art for ideas, that's okay. there is a lot of resources on pinterest and twitter specifically made for artists to use, like blank pose references and such. dont feel bad! the majority of artists use references and it's not a bad thing :3

i do! please never feel ashamed to use references. i mostly find my references on pinterest or twitter, i kind of just type random stuff into pinterest and look around for a while until i find something i like 😭i would suggest indulging in a pinterest scavenger hunt where you just go around looking for a while i know its frustrating to find references but i dont really have a method for finding them hadhskahd

i know the other anon meant a zelda au in terms of the world but it made me think that an actual legend of zelda stsg au would kinda be cool with gojo as link even though they're nothing alike personality wise they still fill a similar role yknow! i'm mainly thinking about this in the context of breath of the wild and the idea of gojo just throwing in random ingredients (and occasionally rocks) into a pot is really funny to me. also funny: geto being in stuck in the castle as gojo is chasing around chickens in kakariko village and just doing the most random side quests ever. geto resigns himself to his fate when gojo starts the quest to build a whole town
I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN, for a while i was trying to combine jjk adn zelda but they are very very different so making an au for it is hard for my small brain. BUT BUT gojo as a silent silly protagonist would be super super cute. omfg you make me wanna doodle gojo doing link's little quests in botw 😭bc youre so right it would be so funny. he tries to upgrade every single outfit from the fairies instead of heading to the castle when he has all his supplies hahdhsfhkshfaiufh he has to do Everything before saving geto LMFAO

Omg do you know kimi ni todoke? If you do i think stsg would work perfectly for an au of that, like suguru as sawako and gojo as shota. I think it’s perfect since gojo seems more like an extrovert and suguru is more introverted. Sorry if im saying this and you dont watch kimi ni todoke ITS REALLY GOOD SO I THINK YOU SHOULD

Another idea (im model stsg anon)
I thought was just like travelling stsg but think like legend of zelda kinda travel and they travel around messing around seeing new places meeting, new people (its how they meet shoko and the others) and just generally messing around.
I like thinking of stsg in other worlds where they arent burdened by having to deal with curses and the trauma with it. Like them just exploring the world together, it sounds nice
STAAWWP WAIT don’t get me started in zelda ong i will Go Off. 1) stsg au where they find each other in every universe because ‘!,!,&,&;3&;!; 2) stsg au where they live in like an lotr/zelda world where they can travel together and live in the same community or same house and they bake and travel and garden and live like hobbits in love or smthn

oh boy LOL this will be confusing and odd i’m sorry but, i started drawing a really long time ago. i taut myself by sight drawing, so i would redraw other artworks (i would not post them, i used them for practice and i was young). i use references a lot, especially with coloring and poses because i’m not terribly creative hahshs but with anatomy and faces and such, i taught myself that. i tend to draw arms and torsos based on what i remember them looking like from references in the past bc i’m very lazy and while i do use references, my biggest reference is what my brain remembers and assumes (i don’t recommend this, please use references.) i used to be strictly traditional and then i got an ipad in 2019 and i’ve been Struggling ever since hahahe. i started taking art seriously just this year (ie lighting, composition, rendering, all that stuff) usually i would just do doodles and sketches and stuff not too serious. i would consider myself a beginner artist in aspects like coloring and rendering because i rely heavily on references and referencing other peoples work. i started out sketching and messing around and then i then i actually started Trying when i rejoined twitter 7 months ago, so, it’s not that much of a process. what i SUGGEST! is using references (always) and giving yourself breaks, don’t push yourself through burnout, let yourself rest. improvement, for me, comes through commitment and inspiration from friends and other artists. it’s typically to be inspired by other artists and other artworks.

oh you’re so sweet HHSSH i might open a print shop! tbh i am not sure how to do it so i never did 😭 im always afraid of things being too complicated because i’m quite irresponsible and don’t want to mess things up terribly. i will ask some of my friends who have a print shop and if it seems to be something manageable for my forgetful and speedy brain i will let everyone know 😁
