When hyphcats form the humanoid hyphess forms how do they create the different colors and textures of hyphess? Is it some form of camoflauge?

many hyphlets (single fish) together form a school of hyphlets and if the school is dense enough it forms hyphcats and hyphesses and a stronger (or rather more attentive) hivemind is created and they're able to manipulate their shape and colours and textures similar to how an octopus is able to do so . it is form of mimicry they do this to fit in despite their adept huntingprowess
