🥺the essay! almost cried real tears when I saw it, what an enlightening read🫶🏻agree pretty much on all the reasons, but the point about no contrived soulmateism is one I didn't consider before..maybe there is an element of being somewhat grounded in reality and the fact that ultimately characters, they are also real multifaceted people who are extremely fascinating to me on their own...and even more intriguing together...anyway glad they inspired you to create and thx for providing more food for thought!
anon 🥹 pls forgive the delayed reply but i'm glad u enjoyed hearing my thoughts 😭 the soulmateism or lack thereof is def my own personal preference showing through—i know others have written soulmate fics i've enjoyed! but i think even in those fics there's often a tension, smth they have to work through to be together, and i like that about them. things are both easy and not, all at the same time :) and yes completely agree that they both fascinate me as individuals! i would not be as invested as i am if i didn't like them both so much 🥹
