not the original asker, but i'd love to see more of your writing tips -- the one you showed made so much sense to me! also, do you have any advice for how you come up with your ideas for stories? i've really been wanting to write, but i can't come up with a story to tell.

(i love your fics so much! your writing is so dynamic and the way you build your stories makes them so damn interesting)

omg thanks for asking! I really do love talking abt writing in general!!! Another tip I'd like to share is: don't be scared of conversations! Sounds incredibly silly and obvious but I think sometimes ppl get scared of writing characters talking. Describing is fun af and it's what I like doing the most but nothing will tell you more abt a character that the way they interact with other characters and how they talk, the things they say. Make your characters talk to each other, and remember you do not need to describe everything mid conversation. For example:

"I don't like this," X said.
"Well, that's the dish you wanted so you have to eat it," Y argued.
"Yeah, but I don't want it anymore, I didn't like it," X pressed on.
"I fail to see how that's my problem," Y said in a mocking tone.

It's very obvious in my example lol buy you do NOT need all those extra bits explaining what the characters are doing bc it's clear in the speech. Idk if that makes sense(?

BUT be careful, if you feel like your character is abt to unload something really long, consider turning it into description instead of writing three long paragraphs of just one character talking. And I'll say this again, these are things that work for ME and things I prefer. All writers are different and some might actually do the opposite of what I'm explaining here and that's fine!

Moving on to the second part of the message (omg I'm already talking a lot lol sorry), I tend to build entire stories just bc I thought abt ONE specific scene. For example, in my fic "if the sun's in your eyes yadda yadda" my og scene was the one with geto taking care of gojo and putting the bandages around his eyes. I wrote 30k bc I wanted to bring that scene to life lmao. I usually just think of one specific thing (maybe a particular headcanon) that I want to share and then build around it, I create enough context so that it makes sense within a broader story. I'd recommend starting small, u do not need to have an entire story figured out in order to start writing, sometimes you'll start getting new ideas the more you write. Search for inspiration!! Music IS my biggest inspiration for example, I'm always listening to music and paying attention to lyrics, and I draw a lot of inspiration from them. It might be a movie, a manga, a video, a game, or a pic, but art is meant to inspire so don't be afraid to search there first thing! Just write that one scene u really want to share with the rest, no matter how short it is.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS MESSAGE ALSO OMG you're so kind and I'm so grateful u think my writing is dynamic bc I do worry a lot abt that!!! Makes super happy to know you enjoy my stories!!! I hope this can help u at least a little bit πŸ™πŸ½πŸ™πŸ½ I hope u have the best day ever πŸ₯ΊπŸ₯ΊπŸ«‚πŸ«‚
