another person asking a different question.. lol.. so my question can be a little weird. do you ever feel like your characters can be out of character while writing? (Don’t get me wrong I love your characterization of them) sometimes I’m afraid to write fics because of this because what if I write them out of character😭 idk if it makes sense to you..

omg another one IM LOVING THESE 🫶🏽🫶🏽 noooo dw, I totally get what u mean! That's a genuine concern and I think this one is a bit tricky to answer.

Do I ever feel like I'm writing ooc characters? Hell yeah. This is FANFICTION, I'm writing about my personal interpretation of a character I really like. I'm depecting them in the the light I see them in, anything that isn't the author's take on a character will always be a little ooc no matter how much ppl like debating otherwise lol.

Now, that doesn't mean I embrace all sorts of takes on a character. I do try to incorporate as much of a character's vibe(? as possible. If we have a character that is extremely smart, it makes ZERO sense to make them dumb just for the sake of the plot. I don't like that and I'm not a fan of any depictions that stray away so far from the original character u can't even tell who they are anymore. Also, what's the point if you're giving them an entire new personality? It's not attractive anymore bc ppl feel too disconnected from what initially made them drawn to the character (I'm just rambling at this point lmao sorry)

ANYWAYS, point is: it's impossible not to write ooc characters so don't feel too bad if your characters don't feel too much like the real deal. That's also what's fun abt fanfics! As long as u keep all the characteristics that first made u like a certain character as intact as possible u can go wild with the rest! Bear in mind you're also putting these characters in completely new and alternative universes so ofc there's no perfect recipe for it.

Sorry for rambling so much I hope I made sense(? and that my answer was at least a little helpful!!! Thanks for sending me this retro, have amazing day 🩷🩷
