this ask made me laugh cuz the implication is that he's incapable of having any healthy personal relationship 😭😭 c'mon have some faith in him... but seriously, i think it depends? if we're talking canon arle, i do think he can manage to improve if he were to be in a romantic relationship, i think he'd be a great partner in a lot of aspects, but he's still flawed like everyone else. if we're talking fanon arle however... my arle, for example, he's pretty much a fucking weirdo, even when he's not Extreme Arle™ (rapist/sexual offender), he's still obsessive and insane and unhinged... my conclusion is that his only truly healthy ship could be with clervie who's 1) dead and 2) would've still been a codependent partner, i think.. with them being childhood sweethearts with a shared horrible past

wow!!! this is a very good analysis on their canon dynamics tbh! the entire cake giving thing really shows how bad he is with apologies. he probably does know that what he did hurt her a lot, and that's why he resorts to this behavior, because to him what he did wasn't wrong, it was necessary, he didn't do it because he was specifically out to hurt her, he was simply looking for a drastic solution to the prophecy once and for all. to him, it was just a failed plan, but to her it was literal trauma. she wants nothing to do with him, but i really genuinely believe that if he had some guidance from, say, the twins (who are furina’s friends), to properly make amends, she would hear him out. like, if we're talking canon dynamics, i really think their relationship could have potential but purely in a self indulgent way and if he really lets her know why he did what he did and the fact that he feels sorry, even though i don't think he feels sorry at all 😭 tbh, arlefuri is a ship with much potential in many different directions, you can oocify it and make it sweet and loving (not wrong), you can deepen it so they talk things out and give each other a chance while dealing with the inevitable problems of a victim of assault forgiving her attacker (who does not feel bad for what he did), you can make it a fucked up toxic codependent relationship where he is obsessed with her and her prowess and force of will and her sheer resilience and she is dependent on him because he feels her feel understood, as a lonely cursed individual that never asked to be in the situation they're in, or you can go to the other extreme and make them a terrified victim who is exploited by her abuser over and over again. and i think all of these interpretations are valid! long as nobody is harassing one another over it

do you mean why i label myself as such or WHY i decided to do it? either way id say because somewhere down the anti-proshipper pipeline i realized that fiction is a perfect space to explore infinite possibilities. the ONLY medium where everything is allowed because nobody is coming to harm because of it. it's an outlet to explore the darker, deeper parts of ourselves i think. letting myself indulge in content that i was always terrified to admit i enjoyed due to fear of being judged or ostracized.. it really left like finally being free? this community makes me feel better about myself in general, people will respect your own headcanons and views and limits without question, unlike on anti spaces where everything is policed and supervised and kept orderly under strict rules.. the label isn't really necessary, id say, but it's a good way to advertise that you will let people be happy with what they ship and what they enjoy as long as they don't harm others doing so. a way to make others feel comfortable and safe around you, i think. at least that's how i felt seeing other proshippers when i first joined
