is there any book or piece of literature that inspired the way u write? or just something u rlly liked and would recommend

Unfortunately I don't read nearly as much as I should lmao that's why my prose is second/third rate when it really comes down to the wire. I SHOULD be reading as much as I write and continuing to develop my style but alas.... In a lot of ways I'm more of a storyteller than a Writer which is unfortunate because. What is a storyteller who hasn't mastered at least one medium you know.

But in terms of stuff that's been inspiring/informative, Dungeon Meshi is a huge one lately because of Ryoko Kui's utterly unapologetic way of storytelling. She does not give a shit if you're coming at the series with a bad faith reading. Either understand or don't. She's not going to hold your hand and if you don't understand the intricacies then that's on you. It's such as huge teaching moment for me bc I always get anxious that what I'm trying to do doesn't come through as much but like.... Now that I'm not afraid of making my characters as terrible and complex as they are in dungeon meshi there's such a sense of freedom as well as heightened mastery/understanding of how to really build a character
