ahhhh this is so hard oh boy. i've been this friend before hahah and i've been rec'd a very interesting variety of tracks (i'm looking at you jopping). i'd probably rec more upbeat songs in general just bc i think a lot of Big kp0p tracks are produced with the stage in mind and i love the energy of them, they really make u wanna move!
i think for skz i'd offer one of their main hits to give a sense of their upbeat sound and i'd probably show it with the mv. so for that reason i'd probably go with god's menu tbh. it's so iconic and one they're well known for. alternatively, i'd probably recommend 'collision' or 'any.'
for non-skz hmmmmmm. the first song that came to mind was 'what is love' by twice LOL. i think it's so upbeat and fun and the mv is so charming i think it's a cute intro to kp0p for the unfamiliar. otherwise i might rec 'basics' by twice, 'change up' by svt (fav svt song), python by gt7 (i have it looped rn), life is still going on by nct dream, new rules by txt.... butttt if i really really had to pick one song other song i'd go with 'love is not over (full length!!)' by bts

also i decide it's canon if the vibes are good enough. if the character interactions sound like they would actually happen, then it's canon comp for me. i put random references to strengthen the existence of my universes that i write... so if i'm writing canon comp then i might reference various schedules or past events that show that they're a similar situation as irl, if that makes sense?

for me I consider it canon if they live in dorms in any of the past or current iterations and they’re idols. Bonus points if their personalities match characteristics we’re used to. Canon divergence is a thing though so maybe that’s what you’re looking for
lamb!! Hi!! ok ok dorms is super helpful actually (specifically for this fic I’m working on). Characteristics are also helpful I think I was getting caught up in the like release of content/concert schedules which now that you mention it is probably within the realm of canon divergence. Like is it divergence if I ignore Lolla or like specific events or set it during a vague come back you know??? This is super helpful, I’m writing this down <3

I'm glad you liked flx especially... the truth is,,, i have a chnlx companion piece in the works for this universe. it's.... uh a bit of a tonal shift from this fic,,, and you'll def see a bit more of the world!
eventually i'd like to write a mnho pov companion piece as well... something something an enemy kidnaps jsvng and the squad has to go save him... and you'd understand that jsvng is generously the closest one to sane in this verse
