Kinda leaves bitter taste and honestly really upsetting for me how some of these same sex shippers clearly don't have the understanding and awareness that some of the things they said or their fellow shippers said even in context of fiction could add more harmful stereotypes to the lgbtq community. Like as part of the community there are times when I just ???????? while reading tweets from these shippers because okay okay ship what you wanted but there's a limit like if you don't know what you're talking about then better don't because I'm sorry lots of people takes are pure shits and even harmful. This part is actually what makes me more 👁️👁️ to ship like wn because the amount of fujoshis that I know are homophobes irl thus also affecting how they formed their opinions
the problem is most genshin fandom is made of teenagers who think homophobia means not liking a so-called queer-coded ship and who base their whole identity on these characters so they deem it as more important than real queer people who, by denying their beliefs, must be homophobes and deserve no respect.
idk what to think about the 20+ y/o ppl who behave this way too honestly, they're the ones who worry me the most lol.
it's also hilarious if you reflect on the fact yaoi-only spaces are mostly made of straight women and they're parading queerness/using it as a gotcha to appear superior yet completely ignore the rampant misogyny in their spaces.
queer community is supposed to be a place that makes you feel welcomed no matter who you are but it has become an aesthetic that gains you points, the "gayer" you are the better it is. which is why theres also a lot of biphobia, especially towards bi women bc its seen as not queer enough/fake queer.
meh. i mostly try to stay away from these people.

Tbh the people insisting Wrio was not underage when he was sent to prison are way worse than any a/f shipper lol like the text is very clear yet they insist he was an adult. the Chinese version literally calls him underage offender 😭
thats refusal to accept canon bc it would make their ship "problematic" but at least it's just about the story... i think it's worse to believe arle's actions are justified bc she kills evil ppl or she claims to hate them bc that hides a very harmful way of thinking.
not to mention a lot of a/f are "women are perfect and can do no wrong women are superior ew men are disgusting and inherently evil how dare you ship this female character with a man you fake queer" type of crowd.

Honestly nowadays I can't stand AF even to their fanarts because I remember how often ooc they are and how their shippers seemingly only become more annoying lately especially when you try to points out the obvious aka what happens in the canon story. Kinda sad because some of their artists actually very talented and damn those arts sure are beautiful but how past experience with their shippers kinda ruined the ship for me
i understand where you're coming from, fandom ruins a lot of things for me too.
i used to be into wrionvfr during early fontaine and into wrio but dropped it bc of how bad (to say the least) that side of the fandom can be.
the best thing is trying to avoid them as much as you can, dont follow ppl who talk about drama every hour of the day, it really takes all the joy of fandom away...
now im trying to like wrio again myself, not associating him with those ppl.
when arle was out a lot of ppl talked shit about her but i kept ignoring it bc i want to like her.
they're just characters in a story after all, you're allowed to enjoy them the way you love. easier said than done i know since we all crave to participate in fandom but it's worth trying.

the only good aspect of arlefuri is the toxic aspect of it. and then their own fans wuwufy it, and THEN we we don't like the dynamic at all, they start being like "yall can't handle toxic lesbians... homophobic and tasteless" help im not the one making two people who hate each other look in love instead of hatefucking. grow up.

i dont know what goes through their mind really, i think they've created their own echo chamber where by sending the cakes arle is trying to apologise to furi and "get close" to her and it all starts from there, at least thats what ive understood by arguing with an arlfr a while ago.
the problem is that they're so convinced of it they completely forgot it's not like that in the game at all, hell i'd be surprised if they ever interacted again.
any sort of cute arlfr content makes me cringe terribly, it is so ooc for both of them. arle would never allow herself to be so vulnerable, especially not with someone who was partly responsible of a lot of problems in fontaine and she clearly didnt like (though it could be different now that she knows the truth). furina is literally terrified of her, nothing much to say there other than the obvious they keep denying.
i think i dont cringe that much even when i accidentally see w/n stuff bc usually theres at least a semblance of their characters, while 80% of arlfr is not them at all it's just OCs with their designs.
still, they're allowed to fantasize how much they want, the issue is they're convinced thats in the game... delusional really. such wasted potential.
theres some arlfrs who like it as toxic though, even if it's rare...

"arle kills abusers" is so funny. a lot of prisoners irl do that too, doesn't make them better people.
yeah that was the part that made me upset. idc if they want to justify everything arle did and make her a good person in the story but when you start saying shit like "why do you see her as a bad person if she hates/kills bad people?" theres something deeply wrong in your way of thinking. especially bc that person was talking about it in relation to "harmful stereotypes" bc they hc arle as masc lesbian which means ppl see her as an abuser bc of that and not bc of what she actually did in game. it's fucked up.
i dont think arle is a villain honestly shes very complex and we dont know enough about her, but shes no saint either.

I like arlefuri if it's not defanged, I don't know why these people want Arle to be a righteous figure. It's Ei all over again. Claim their fave is morally grey, "you can't handle morally grey women", don't actually want her to be morally grey. This just makes me hate Genshin and their refusal to give their playable women flaws.
i blame more the hyv fandom who is incapable of understanding things unless they're explicitly said in the text (and even then if the denial is strong enough it doesnt work either) and doesnt know what nuance is.
arle and furi for example both show flaws in different ways, yet most of the fandom either completely erases them or turns them into black-and-white stereotypes.
ei is a bit of a different situation bc the writing in inazuma was a mess and she wasnt handled properly so i blame genshin in that case.

Sorta hot take but hoyotwt only cares for the “implied” sexuality of the characters rather than the story/lore they have, it’s getting tiring at this point.
Like can they just enjoy the game instead of screaming at people over their own headcanons. Because it seems like they just care about the none existing queer rep of characters based of delusions rather than the actual canon of them.
