When do rejection emails come in/is there a latest expected date to hear back?
Hello! Apologies for the silence, but right now we're still waiting to hear back from a few people until the 14th at the latest. Once that's done, we'll be sending out rejections afterwards!
From that last question it seems like you haven’t decided all of the contributors yet? I thought the results would come in today at the latest
Hello! Don't worry, we've selected every contributor prior to the last question. What we mean is that we're letting people take the time to confirm or deny the acceptance email, which is why some emails may be sent later in the event a spot opens up! Once that's all done, we'll be sending rejection emails.
Hello, just curious will all people who applied receive an email telling them whether or not they are accepted? Or only those who get accepted will receive an email?
We will be sending out most acceptance emails starting today, but some may come at a later date— rejection emails will be sent out after our contributor list is finalized. We will be sending out a social media post once all letters are sent, so please keep an eye out for that!
Hey! So, re: profit margins for contributors; I was just filling out the application and I noticed that contributors get 2.1%, and moderators get 8%. For moderators who are both contributing and managing the zine that makes perfect sense, but I was kind of surprised to see those numbers. It seems like paying contributors an equal amount as moderators is more fair, be it that there would be no zine without the people contributing. Do you guys have insight into the financials that led to the decision?
Hello! We decided to change the profit cut numbers that were on the form to be more in-line with the Carrd; the new numbers are 2.25% for contributors and 2.43% for moderators— this is strictly an increase and beneficial for the contributors! Moderators will now get 8% more multiplicatively in profit rather than 0.8% more additively with the previous numbers. We made changes to the form to better reflect this intent, so apologies for any confusion and we hope we made things clearer! We opted to give the moderators an 8% profit increase because of how much time and effort goes into organizing the zine. This includes formatting, communications, marketing, shipping, graphics making, etc.! Please note that the final profit cut numbers may slightly vary on the final number of contributors, but moderators will be making 1.08 times more than contributors either way!
Are you not getting beta readers and editors? Or are there some already on the team.
Hello, we currently have a mod for writing that will beta read, but there's always the option of having other contributors beta read as well!
hi! are there really only 4 writer slots? i'm assuming that's one fic for each psyncer, but isn't that kind of limiting writers in terms of the scope of their works? (for example, if a writer wanted to write a fic about the dynamic between two of the psyncers)
Hello, it's true that we're accepting at most 4 writers. It's only to ensure that every Psyncer gets some level of focus but we will not be limiting writers from focusing on more than one character in their pieces. It's entirely possible that a Psyncer gets more than one piece dedicated to them, but we're aiming for all of them to get at least one!
Can contributors be accepted for multiple roles such as both merch and page artist?
Hello! This is already listed in the Apply page of our Carrd, but for ease, here's what it says: "You may apply for more than one role, but please keep in mind that we will only be accepting one of them (i.e. you cannot do both page and merch art)."
the FAQ mentions checking if applicants create "potentially triggering content". does this mean that if you create/have created any dead dove, gore, etc. content that you should not apply to this zine?
Hello! You can still apply, but keep in mind it is up to the mods to determine whether or not your portfolio or socials have controversial content. We apologize for not providing a full definition of what we consider to be "controversial", because it wholly depends on what we see/find. For potentially triggering content, we also do not wish to define what we will be looking for when vetting due to how many topics could be considered potentially triggering. If you feel that your examples fall under these categories, it is at your discretion whether or not you apply. We also ask you to trust that we know what to look for and that we promise a safe environment for the team!
just to make absolutely sure, concerning the theme of the zine which is about the psyncers and full allowance of spoilers, a zine piece concerning the life of hayato yagyu whether it be him on the job, his relationship with boss, his relationship with hitomi and iris, or him as a kid discovering a porno mag for the first time would that count on this zine as a piece for kaname date and be allowed?
We do allow the appearance of Hayato Yagyu, but the overall piece has to be clear that it is about Kaname Date the Psyncer and his past and not just Hayato Yagyu since we will be treating these two as almost separate characters. It also all comes down to pitches and mod discretion.
hello, when the application asks to link 3 highlights of our art, do you mean social media links? some of the pieces i'd define as highlights aren't on my socmed, would it be ok to link them from google drive? thanks!
Yes, any kind of link will work as long as we are able to view it!
will there a more detailed description of exactly what the theme is? I feel like the information on the carrd is a bit vague, like "daily lives, inside their minds, and their jobs at ABIS" doesn't really have a correlation in my mind. Is it a lighthearted "day in the life of a psyncer!" type thing?
We wanted to leave the theme fairly vague as to not restrict the contributors too much, but yes, it is a day in the life of a Psyncer. We wish to show off pieces that explore the characters' lives, stories, personalities, etc. in this zine! Abstract and non-abstract pieces are welcome as long as they are appealing to look at/read well, and they are able to tell a story about who the characters are and what their roles are.
What do you look for in a cosplay portfolio? (I.e. just pics of the AITSF character, or lots of different cosplay photos to show overall content.)
For cosplays, we are mostly looking for photos that highlight your ability to portray the character in a scene and an interesting composition rather than just showing off the quality of the costume/your overall appearance, although quality is important too!
When sending the cosplayer portfolio, is okay if we didn't make the cosplays ourselves? I commission people to sew them! And also, we don't have to make a new cosplay from 0 for the zine right?
Yes, it is completely fine as long as you credit whoever made the cosplay! And yes, it is okay if you already have the cosplay ready. Just let the mods know during check-ins!
how will you be making sure that the psyncers will be (roughly) equally represented in the zine?
Hello! We will be keeping track of which character(s) contributors will want to draw/write/cosplay, and pick out an equal amount of pitches for each character during the pitch stage.
can you apply to be a merch artist if you would only be able to do a specific type of merch, e.g. desktop backgrounds and posters but not charms or badges?
Of course! In the application form, you will be picking which types of merch you want to/are willing to draw and if accepted, you will be expected to make the types of merch you listed down.
